The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday December 29, 1960 Artie R. Mead. Artie R. MEAD, 69, 1404 N. Logan, died Wednesday in a Topeka hospital after a long illness. He was born Dec. 28, 1891, in Monroe City, mo., and lived in the Prairie View Community near Waverly until he moved to Topeka six months ago. He was a retired farmer and member of Prairie View Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Theresa Mead, of the home; two sons, Elmo Mead of Meade, and Merle Mead of Great Bend; one daughter, Mrs. LaVon METZGER, 1403 N. Logan; two brothers, Otis Mead of Centerburg, Ohio, and Ray Mead of Wayne, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna COON of Fostoria, Ohio, Mrs. Viola HARELSON and Mrs. Lottie CROSSETT, both of Madison Heights, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be announced by Parker Mortuary. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery.
