The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday December 2, 1965 McCoy Rites Set Friday. Services for Charles McCOY, 71, 1169 Webster, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Chapel with burial in the Topeka Cemetery. He died of a shotgun wound at his home Wednesday. Dr. J.L. Lattimore, district coroner said the wound was self-inflicted. Born Oct. 21, 1894, in Topeka, he began his career with the Santa Fe Railway at Albuquerque, N.M, in 1911. He was stationed at Las Vegas, N.M., Belen, N.M, and Kansas City beofre returning to Topeka in1939 at roundhouse foreman. He retired Feb. 29, 1965. He was a member of the Topeka Masonic Lodge No. 17, AF&AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Topeka, the Arab Temple Shrine, and The Santa Fe Retired Employes Club. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hilda McCoy, of the home; and a son, Donald McCoy, Kansas City. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
