The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday December 5, 1965 R.J. Simmons Dies at 62; Rites Tuesday. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary for Russell J. SIMMONS, 62, who died Saturday at his home, 200 Hillside Drive. He was born Nov. 16, 1903 at Sharon Springs in Wallace County. He lived at Allen in Lyon County before moving to Topeka in 1931. He was a member of the Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church. He was a barber in Topeka form 1931 to 1942 and had been supervisor of building operators for the Topeka Board of Education the past 23 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Simmons, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Loren SLATER, Hutchinson; a son, Loren Simmons, 156 W. 27th; a brother, Roy Simmons, Ponca City, Okla.; three sisters, Mrs. Fern Lint, Santa Cruz, Calif., Mrs. Lula Viergever, Route 8, and Mrs. Lola Simmons, Clay Center; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church.
