    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday May 16, 1920 T.W. Dare Is Dead. He Achieved Prominence by Having Adopted Daughter Come by Express. T.W. DARE, who acheived prominence thruout the country last October by getting one of the queerest express "packages" ever received in topeka, died May 10 at Santa Barbara, Cal., according to word reaching here. The express "package" was Miss Doreen STEER, who came from her home in England in the care of agents of the American Railway Express to become the adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dare who then lived at 907 Lincoln street. The Dares and Miss Steer left early in January to make their home in Santa Barbara. Mr. Dare had resided in Topeka about five years. Mrs. Dare and Miss Steer survive. The body of Mr. Dare was shipped to Gardner, Kans., for burial.
