    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday December 22, 1960 Maude Allen, State Figure's Widow, Dies. Mrs. E. Maude ALLEN, 84, of 213 E. 9th, the widow of George A. Allen, Jr., one-time Kansas state superintendent of public instruction, died Wednesday night in a Topeka hospital. She had been ill for some time. Her husband preceded her in death 28 years ago. Mrs. Allen, a native of Circleville, was a member of the First Methodist Church here and Beulah Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Among the survivors are one daughter, Mrs. William RICKERT, of Marysville; three sons, Charles M. Allen of Wichita, Fred A. Allen of Oak Park, Ill., and Paul J. Allen of 820 Gage; 9 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be at Penwell-Gabel Chapel at 3:30 p.m. Friday, followed by burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
