The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday March 31, 1968 John M. Davis, Sr. John M. DAVIS, Sr., 74, 2014 W. 12th, died Saturday in a Wadsworth hospital where he had been a patient about seven weeks. He was born Sept. 27, 1893 at Joliet, Ill., and spent most of his life in Topeka. He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Orient Lodge, No. 51, AF&AM, and Phillip Billard Post No. 1650 of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a painter and decorator before he retired. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida M. Davis, at home; a son, John Davis, Jr., Kanas City, Mo.; a brother, Roy H. Davis, Chicago, Ill.; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
