JONES, 52, of Silver Lake, died Tuesday in a Topeka hospital after a short illness. She was born March 7, 1909 in St. Marys and lived in Silver Lake for the past 18 years. She married Donald D. Jones, Aug. 19, 1942, in St. Marys, where she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Donna Katherine, and a son, James Leonard, all of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Mary STAAB of Hays, and Mrs. Agnes WITTEN, of Downey, Calif. Rosary will be recitedat 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the Verschelden Funeral Home at St. Marys. Services willbe at 9 a.m. Friday in the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

She was born in Topeka, Aug. 18, 1891, and lived here all of her life. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Hartman, 1814 Morrison, and Jack Hartman, 540 W. 39th; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred LOVE of Hopeville, Ga., Mrs. Eva MARLOW of Derby, and Mrs. Margaret BURGHART, 541 Sardou; four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth DOMME, 216 Wilson Mrs. Matilda URBAN, 1604 Seward, Mrs. Anna STRAMEL of Hays, and Mrs. Pauline DRZWEIKI, of Chicago. He was born Feb. 9, 1868, in Davenport, Iowa, and was a partner in the Johnson and Curtis News and Confectionery Stand on West 5th Street many years. There are no known survivors. VOEGTLE, 309 Huntoon, who died in a local hospital Wednesday. She was born in Augsburg, Germany, and came to the United States with her family. She lived in Kansas City before moving to Topeka. Her husband, Henry Voegtle, died in 1907. She returned to Germany where she lived in Berlin a few years. Later, she taught private German lessons in Topeka. Surviving are six nephews.

Mrs. Lucas had lived here seven years. She was born Nov. 2, 1879, in Blackford County, Ind., and was a member of the Christian Church and Eastern Star at Hartford City, Ind. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. H.E. DISLER, of Edmonton, Canada, and Mrs. Ruth HEINE of Santa Ana, Calif.; one brother, O.O. LEWIS of Flint,Mich.; and one granddaughter.     3. The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday December 29, 1960 Artie R. Mead. Artie R. MEAD, 69, 1404 N. Logan, died Wednesday in a Topeka hospital after a long illness. He was born Dec. 28, 1891, in Monroe City, mo., and lived in the Prairie View Community near Waverly until he moved to Topeka six months ago. He was a retired farmer and member of Prairie View Methodist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Theresa Mead, of the home; two sons, Elmo Mead of Meade, and Merle Mead of Great Bend; one daughter, Mrs. LaVon METZGER, 1403 N. Logan; two brothers, Otis Mead of Centerburg, Ohio, and Ray Mead of Wayne, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna COON of Fostoria, Ohio, Mrs. Viola HARELSON and Mrs. Lottie CROSSETT, both of Madison Heights, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be announced by Parker Mortuary. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday December 29, 1960 Charles Elkins. Charles ELKINS, 81, 717 Forrest, died following a heart attack at his home Wednesday. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., July 15, 1879, and moved to Clyde with his parents when he was two years old. He lived here 60 years. He was employed by the Acme Paint Co., 30 years, was a member of the Kansas Avenue Methodist Church and Golden Rule Lodge No. 90 AF&AM. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Edna I. Elkins, of the home; one son, Carl H. Elkins, 1625 W. 21st.; three daughters, Mrs. John J. ANWEILER, 901 Strait, Mrs. Lloyd HOLDEN, 510 Holview, and Miss Enda E. ELKINS, of the home; two stepsons, Tom ROETHER, 1715 Belvoir Court, and Frank Roether, 1824 E. 21st; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Service will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Parker Mortuary with burial in Rochester Cemetery. Graveside services will be conducted by the Golden Rule Lodge, No. 90.

He was born Oct. 9, 1904, at Centerville, and was former vocational agriculture teacher at Paxico. He operated a hatchery at St. Marys 12 years. He was a graduate of Kansas State University, a charter member of Alpha Gamma Rho social fraternity, a member of Alpha Zeta national scholastic fraternity, a member of the Maple Hill Congregational Community Church, and a clerk on the Maple Hill township board. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lucille Ungeheuer, a daughter, Linda and a son, Terry, all of the home; his mother, Mrs. George Ungeheuer of Centerville and two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Ungeheuer of Centerville. Services will be announced by the Penwell-Gable Funeral Home.

He was born April 2, 1871, in Lorain County, Ohio, and lived in Topeka about 20 years. He was a retired street railway employee of Cleveland, Ohio, and a member of the Third Presbyterian Church. Survivors included his widow, Lulu N. Norton, of the home; one son, W.G. Norton, of Berea, Ohio; three stepsons, A.H. TYNER, of Chanute, M.A. Tyner, 541 Norwood, L.O. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wheaton, for Miss Aldene Ann BOSSE, 20, 422 W. 6th, who was killed in car accident Monday near Blaine. Miss Bosse was spending the Christmas holiday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Bosse of Wheaton, when the accident occurred. Two other persons were killed in the two-car accident. In January 1959 she started work as a bookkeeper for Security Benefit Life Insurance Co. of Topeka. She was born at Wheaton, Dec. 6, 1940, and graduated from Wheaton High School. She attended Clarks School of Business in Topeka. Survivors in addition to her parents include two sisters, Mrs. Arlynn WAHL of Blaine and Mrs. Neil LARSON of Denver, Colo.; and three brothers, Marvin Bosse of Wheaton, Norman Bosse of Onaga and Orlin Bosse of the home. Kushal Funeral Home of Wheaton is in charge. Burial will be in St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery.

    3. The Topeka Daily Tuesday December 27, 1960 H.A. French Is Dead at 83; Services Set. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kansas Avenue Methodist Church for Herbert A. FRENCH, 83, 1134 Huntoon, who died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1877, on a farm near Silver Lake and came to Topeka as a young man. He worked as an electrician for the Santa Fe Railroad in Newton from 1900 to 1911 when he came back to Topeka. Mr. French then was employed in the store department of the railroad until he retired in 1947. He was a member of Kansas Avenue Methodist Church for 50 years where he served as Sunday school teacher, trustee, lay leader, chairman of the board of the church and music director. He also was a member of the Santa Fe Oldtimer's Club. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mennie G. French of the home; two daughters, Eva French of the home and Ruth French of Kansas City, Kan.; six sons, the Rev. L. Theron French of Newborn, Ohio, the Rev. Carlton C. French of Salina, Orrin C. French, 1918 N. Quincy, Vernon M. French, 1245 Medford, Freeman G. French, 1245 Medford, and Glen D. French of Northridge, Calif.; two stepsons, Samuel L. FOSTER of Eagle, Wisc., and Donald J. FOSTER, 232 N. Knox; 22 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. The body will lie in state from noon until 10 a.m. today at Parker Mortuary. Burial will be in the Rochester Cemetery.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday December 27, 1960 Former Legislator, Karl W. Root, Dies. Services for Karl W. ROOT, former state legislator and local official of Atchison, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Atchison with graveside services at 3:30 p.m. today at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. He died Sunday at his home following a heart attack. He was 50. A native of Topeka, Mr. Root was a graduate of Washburn University Law School. He moved to Atchison in 1937. He worked in the Securities Department, Kansas Corporation Commission from 1935 to 1937. He was assistant city attorney of Atchison from 1937 to 1942 and county attorney from 1942 to 1947. Mr. Root also served as city manager of Atchison in 1939 and was director of the Atchison Urban Renewal project. He servied in both Kansas House and Senate. Mr. Root was the son-in-law of former Mayor and Mrs. Herbert G. BARRETT, 812 Lindenwood. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lorainne Root of the home; two sons, William Root of San Francisco and Tom Root, a student at Washburn University and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William P. Root, 2808 Ohio.

Born in Topeka May 23, 1899, he had been a member of the Central Congregational Church for 36 years and was a member of the Siloam Lodge No. 225 of the Scottish Rite.
