Survivors include her widower, Richard at home; her mother, Mrs. Louise BALLAGH; and a brother, Julius Ballagh, both of Oskaloosa. Services will be announced by the Hampton Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday August 29, 1961 Topeka Man, John Synder, Is Dead at 83. John Phillip SNYDER, 83-year-old retired blacksmith died at his home in the Gerye Hotel Monday. Born in Stebuenville, Ohio, he had lived in Topeka the past 10 years. Most of his life was spent in Broughton and Clay Center. He was a Spanish-American War veteran and a member of the Clay Center Methodist Church, Modern Woodmen of America and American War Dads. Surviving are two sons, Clifford, 2800 Ohio, and Morgan, Clay Center; one daughter, Ms. Gaye MALL, Clay Center; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Neill Schwensen Mortuary, Clay Center. The body will lie in state at McMichael Memorial Home in Topeka this evening. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center. Austin Funeral Home at Eskridge is in charge of arrangements.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Monday August 28, 1961 Christina Bloomgren. Mrs. Christina BLOOMGREN, 85, a resident of Topeka for 77 years, died Sunday at her home, 334 Lime. She had been in ill health since 1939. Mrs. Bloomgren was bonr in Stockholm, Sweden, on Aug. 14, 1876. She was the widow of the late Carl J. Bloomgen. She was a member of the Third Christian Church. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Anna HUNT of the home; Mrs. Mary DOYLE of 1634 Polk, and Mrs. Florence KIRK, of 823 W. 6th. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Chapel. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery.

RANKIN, 32, of 3714 Sena Drive, died Sunday morning in a Topeka hospital following a long illness. Born in Topeka on Oct. 31, 1928, he had lived here all his life. He had been associated with the Von Wolff Paint Company for several years before he was forced to retire two years ago when he lost his sight. He had been in ill health previous to that time but had been able to work. He was a member of the Christian Church and the Painters Local Union. He leaves two sons, Mark Rankin, 10, and Michael, 7, and a daughter, Cheryl, 9, all olf 108 W. 19th; his mother, Mrs. Florence Rankin of the home; two sisters, Miss Dianne Rankin of the home and Mrs. LeRoy VINEYARD of York, Neb. Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary will announce service arrangements.

Born at St. Joseph, Mo., Jan. 17, 1918, he served in World War II overseas with the U.S. Army. He lived in Valley Falls before moving to Topeka 20 years ago. He was a cook at the Samaritan Nursing Home of Topeka. Mr. Wilson was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Topeka. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Charlene Wilson; two sons, Larry Wayne and Bryon Wesley Wilson and a daughter, Anna LaRue Wilson, all of the home; his mother, Mrs. Lucile Wilson of Boulder, Colo.; Donald V. The family had been visiting with Mrs. Gwen RODRINQUEZ, 1600 Morrison, the materal grandmohter, when the child became stricken. A post-mortem is being conducted to determine the cause of death. She was born Sept. 19, 1960, in Detroit, and is survived by her parents and maternal grandmother, and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richmond STANLEY of Shelby Gap, Ky., and her maternal grandfather, Alf KILLIAN of Detroit. Burial will be in the Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit. The McMichael Memorial Home is in charge of local arrangements.

She was born at Riverside, Tex., Oct. 18, 1879, and was the widow of the late Robert (Dutch) Washam, who died about 20 years ago. Mrs. Washam was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. The oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie M. BAIRD, she was born at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family moved to Topeka when she was a child. Her first husband was Isaac S. SHEETZ. To this union was born a daughter, Mrs. Jack BLEAN, 1243 Mulvane. After the death of Mr. Sheetz, Mrs. Sheetz married Charles A. WALTZ, who also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church. Besides Mrs. Blean, survivors include a grandson, James Blean of the home; a granddaughter, Mrs. Eddwin MARTIN, and a great-granddaughter, Janet Sue Martin, both of 1185 Fillmore; a sister, Mrs. A.V. SCHULER, 1029 Harrison. Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday in the Assumption Catholic Church. Mrs. Waltz will lie in state at the Brennan Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.
