He was born August 14, 1893 at Junction City. He had lived in Topeka since he was 12 years old. He was a laborer at Mid-America fairgrounds before he retired. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rosie Lee Wells, at home; two sons, Jesse C. Wells, Mesa, Ariz., and Eugene C. Wells, 314 E. Paramore; two daughters, Mrs. Frances HEKKALA, Elma, Wash., and Mrs. Violet HEATH, Laurel, Wash.; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Frances ROMANE, Rowe, California, Mrs. Donna Lee MATHY, and Mrs. Nancy DIETRICH, both of Topeka, and Phyllis GRIFFEN, Houston, Tex.; a stepson, Vernon ADAMS, Dallas, Tex.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Parker Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Lawrence.--Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ninth Street Baptist Church here for Mrs. Mollie HAWKINS, 93, Lawrence, who died Sunday at a hospital here. She was born May 2, 1872, at Tipton, Mo., and had lived in Douglas County since 1898. She was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church at Lawrence and the mission society at the church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bertha THOMPSON, Lawrence; two sons, Lonne Howard and Edward Hawkins, both of Lawrence; 22 grandchildren; 80 great-grandchildren and for great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery at Lawrence. Bowser-Lee Mortuary at Lawrence is in charge of arrangements.

She was born July 23, 1883 near Nortonville and spent most of her life in the Nortonville community. She was a member of the Methodist Chruch and Rebecca Lodge, both at Nortonville. She was married to Theodore Speck, Oct. 18, 1905, at Nortonville. He survives. Burial will be in Nortonville Cemetery. Mrs. Speck will lie in state from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born May 18, 1893, in Jefferson County and spent most of her life in Jefferson and Shawnee counties. She was a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church near Oskaloosa. She was a Wanamaker 4-H Club leader many years. A son, William Ira Ross, Jr., died iin 1922. Survivors include her husband, William Ira Ross, of the home; two sons, Merle Ross, 2412 Shunga Drive, and Charles Ross, 4509 W.17th, two daughters, Justine Ross, Lecompton and Dorothy Mae HUGHEY, Garden Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Ava KILLINGER, Perry, and Rosa SAYLER, 612 Taylor; two brothers, John Sayler, 1421 Burnett Road, and William Sayler, Winchester; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. MILLER, 86, who died Monday at her home, 124 Western, after a long illness. She was born March 23, 1879 at Pittsburgh, Pa., and had lived in Topeka 65 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Thomas Miller, died in 1930. Survivors include two sons, Lance R. MILLER, of the home, and Thomas D. MILLER, 1540 Shunga Drive; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Miller will lie in state at the mortuary until time of services.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Monday November 1, 1965 Edith Fleming Dies at 91. Mrs. Edith M. FLEMING, 91, 2040 Pembroke Lane, died Sunday at a Topeka hospital after a long illness. She was born Jan. 8, 1874, at Lyndon, the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Nelson HOLLINGSWORTH. She spent most of her life in Kansas. She was a member of the Westminster Presybyterian Church. Her husband, O.A. Fleming who was one of the founders of the Fleming Company, died March 22, 1960. Survivors include a son, Ned N. Fleming, Route 8; two daughters, Mrs. A.K. WILSON and Mrs. Robert HASTY, both of Wichita; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Private services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Graveside services willbe at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lyndon cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Monday November 1, 1965 Rev. Budreau, Effingham, Dies. Atchison.--Requiem mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict's Catholic Church here for the Rev. Joseph A. BUDREAU, 89, Effingham, who died Friday at a Topeka hospital. He was born March 5, 1876 in Kankakee County, Ill. He was ordained to the Catholic priesthood April 2, 1907 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral at Leavenworth. He served Catholic parishes at Leavenworth, Tonganoxie, Nortonville, Axtell, Horton and St. Patrick's Catholic parish in Wyandotte County. He retired July 1, 1953. A sister Mrs. Louise POUTON, Borubonnais, Ill., survives. Office of the Dead will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict's Church at Atchison. Burial will be in St. George's parish cemetery in Bourbonnais, Ill. The Rev. Fr. Budreau will lie in state from 4 to 9 p.m. today at St. Ann's Catholic Church at Effingham where rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today. Herouff-Buis Funeral Home at Atchison is in charge of arrangements.

Can also tell you, that I remember from that newspaper, and I still have items to post from it, is that the 1918 newspaper was/is a real bear to read and try to figure out. Have a good one!! O'Brien, 70, formerly of 900 Tyler, who died Monday at a Topeka hospital after a long illness. He was born March 23, 1895, at Jersey City, N.J. He attended Pace University of Accounting at New York City. He had lived in Topeka since 1949. He served in the Marines in France during World War I. He was a treasurer of the Creole Petroleum Corporation of Venezuela from 1927 until he retirned in 1949. He was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. His wife, Mrs. Kathleen Sullivan O'Brien, died Nov. 30, 1931. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen L. DODSON, 1135 Wanamaker Road, and Mrs. Maurita STRIMPLE, Rocky River, Ohio; a son, James P. O'Brien, Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Loretta T. O'Brien, Jersey City, N.J.; a brother, Frank A.
