Mr.LASSWELL was born December 10, 1896, in St. Clere, Kan., and had lived all his life in the Emmett community. He was married to the former Sylvia MAXWELL March 9, 1921, in Topeka. Mr. LASSWELL had been a member of the Emmett High School board for 20 years, a member of the Pottawatomie County Commission for seven years, and was on the board of directors of the Farmers Union Central Co-operative, a member of the Kansas Livestock Association, the St. Marys Chamber of Commerce, and of the Emmett Lions Club. he attended the Emmett Methodist Church. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Sylvia LASSWELL, of the home; two sons, Marion and Gene LASSWELL, both of Emmett; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer BETTS, Topeka, and Mrs. Robert MYERS, Overland Park; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Romney KETTERMAN and Mrs. Fred LUNGER, both of Summerfield, Kan., and Mrs. Winifred PINE of Manhattan; two brothers, Fred LASSWELL, of Emmett and Roy LASSWELL, of St. Marys. Bell Victim of Crash. Charles BELL, 49, of Topeka, former resident of Oskaloosa, died Saturday morning March 29, from injuries sustained early that morning in an automobile collison. Mr. and Mrs. BELL, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil BRADLEY and Martha DOUGLAS, 23, all of Topeka, were riding in the Bell automobile when it collided with a Santa Fe Trailways passenger bus half a mile east of Topeka on U.S. 40. The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. The occupants of the car were taken to hospital, where BELL died at 6:30 and Miss DOUGLAS at 9 o'clock. The other three were in a serious condition. Mr. BELL had been employed at the Santa Fe shops the last sixteen years. He was a World War veteran, member of American Legion, and a member of St. Johns A.M.E. church of Topeka.
