Her widower, reported to have been the first Negro in Kansas to enlist for service in World War I, is employed at city hall. Other survivors include a son, Clayton F. Brice, 1216 Lime; two brothers, Columbus Hagan, 1933 Fillmore, and Augustus Hagan, 220 Lime; four sisters, Mrs. Lillilan Queery, 1407 Tyler; Mrs. Jessie Moss, 1839 Fillmore, and Mrs. Elizabeth Smith and Miss Leona Hagan, both of Kansas City, and several nieces and nephews. The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday March 2, 1961 Robert T. Arthur. Robert T. ARTHUR, 83, 1724 Kansas, an employe of the Santa Fe Railway since 1903, died Wednesday in a Topeka hospital. He was a retired switchman and engine foreman. Mr. Arthur was born Sept. 8, 1877, in Roanoke, Va., and lived in Topeka most of his life. Surviving are three brothers, Walter Arthur, 605 Warren; Joseph Arthur of Seattle, Wash. and Alfred Arthur of Oklahoma City, Okla., and a sister, Mrs. Mary Anne Harrison of Kansas City. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Penwell-Gabel Chapel with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery for Mrs. Ellen Estella FISKE, 78, who was found Tuesday at her home, 2134 Maryland. Police discovered the body after neighbors had called. She was born at La Plata, Mo., Sept. 17, 1892, and lived at Winfield before moving here in 1945. She was the widow of W.H. Fiske, formerly of the Topeka Printing Co. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Y-Matrons Club of the YWCA. Surviving are four sons, Theron G. Fiske of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Finley F. Fiske of St. Joseph, Mo.; William H. FISKE, Jr. of Winfield and Guy O. Fiske of Flint, Mich.; a brother, W.N. Gardner of Chanute; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday March 2, 1961 Walter Conroy Is Dead at 86; Rites Saturday. Walter D. CONROY, 1219 N. Van Buren, a retired grocer, died Wednesday in a Topeka hospital. He was 86. He was born in Lay Place, Ill., Dec. 13, 1874, and came to Kansas with his parents when he was six. He lived here since 1915. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lola Bowman, 208 E. Lyman Rd; two sisters, Mrs. J.A. Shirely, 1525 W. 15th, and Mrs. Lula Neill of Effingham; three grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Parker Mortuary with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Services for the former editor of Household Magazine, Mrs. Ida Rigney Migliario, 72, 1317 Clay, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary. She died Tuesday in a local hospital. Services as field editor of Capper Farm Press, she became home economics editor of Capper Farm Press in 1920 and editor of Household Magazine in 1925. She retired in 1960. Born June 8, 1888, at Zeandale, she was reared in Manhattan and received her B.S. degree in home economics at Kansas State in 1909. She was dietitian in Ensworth Hospital at St. Joseph, Mo.; until 1910 and supervisor of home economics for schools in Wichita until 1911. She was an honorary member of Omicron Nu (home economis), Theta Sigma Phi (journalism) and Phi Kappa Phi (education). Surviving are a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alvin Rigney of Pasadena, Calif.; three nieces and two nephews and a friend and companion for 16 years, Mrs. Dorothy Watson, at home. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. She will lie in state at the mortuary until service time. The family request that contributions be made to heart or cancer funds.

Mr. Hatch worked in the engineering department of the Santa Fe Railway for many years at Chanute, Kan., and was employed by the Santa Fe when he lived in Topeka. Survivors include a brother and two sisters of Barberton, Ohio. Services and burial will be Tuesday in Barberton. the Canfield Hickman Funeral Home of Barberton is in charge of arrangements.

Brittain, 52, of Hutchinson, formerly of Topeka, wil lbe at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Johnson and Johnson Funeral Home at Hutchinson with burial there. He died Friday near Fredonia. The car he was driving went off the embankment. He was alone at the time. He previously had suffered three heart attacks, one of them about a week ago. Born Nov. 14, 1907, in Topeka, he was a resident here until about 25 years ago. He was a veteran of World War II and a used car dealer. He was a member of the Reorganized Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Moose and Eagle lodges. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Agnes Brittain, 815 Qunicy; one brother, Russell Brittain of La Junta, Colo., three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd Saylor, 222 N. Knox, Mrs. Mildren Ramsey of Compton, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Menderhati of Downey, Calif.

She had been ill for a shsort time at the home of her mother and sister at 1505 Tyler. Mrs. Gattung was born Feb. 2, 1904, at Pittsburg, Kan. She was a member of the Christian Church. She is survived by her widower, Francis G. Gattung of the home in Kansas City; her mtoher, Mrs. Ethel Colborn, 1505 Tyler; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Curry of Girard, Kan., and Mrs. Edith M. Walker, 1505 Tyler; and two brothes, Wilbur E. Colborn of Rockford, Ill., and Fred M. Colborn of Pittsburg. Services for Mrs. Nettie Daniels, 88, of 1135 College, will be at 2 p.m. today in Mulvane Chapel at the Methodist Home. Burial will be in Elsmore in Allen County. She died Friday afternoon at the Methodist Home. She was born Aug. 4, 1872, in Bourbon County. Her husband, the late Rev. E.M. Daniels, was a Methodist minister in Kansas for many years. Rev. Daniels served churches in Elsmore, Erie, Bronson, Bonner Springs, Kansas City, Columbus, Parsons and Paola. Rev. Daniels died July 29, 1945, and Mrs. Daniels moved from Paola to the Methodist Home Jan. 6, 1947. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marion Phillips of Osawatomie, and two grandsons. The Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday October 2, 1960 Services Set For Topekan, Irma C. Walsh. Services for Mrs. Irma C. Walsh, former secretary to Gov. Alf M. Landon will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Wall-Diffenderfer Chapel with burial in Osage City Cemetery. She died Friday morning in a Topeka hospital. She lived at 1224 Topeka. Born at Scottsville, in Mitchell County, she attended Gem City Business College at Quincy, Ill. She was secretary to Alf M. Landon during his campaign for the presidencey and continued until 1939. From 1940 to 1955 she was employed by the State Board of Administration, serving under Frank W. Boyd and Phil R. Hawkins. She was office manager for the Parole Administration until 1956. She was employed in the office of Frank Sullivan, state commissioner of insurance, after a short retirement. She was on leave from that office at the time of her death. She has held several offices in the National Prison Congress and was the only woman in parole administration work in the United States from 1950 to 1955. She was listed in Who's Who In American Women. Survivors include a son, Francis M. Walsh of Raytown, Mo.; three grandchildren, and a brother, Irl Culp, 3120 Sena Drive. Beulah Chapter No. 34, will conduct services at the funeral home following the funeral.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday October 1, 1960 Lyle Coltharp, 29, Dies in Hospital. Lyle Alfred COLTHARP, 29, 436 Golden, died Friday in a Leavenworth hospital. He was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Leonardville, Kan., and was a member of the Baptist Church. He moved to Topeka about a year ago. He had been hospitalized at Leavenworth two months. Survivors include his widow, Naomi, of the home; his mother, Cora Coltharp and a brother, Boyd Coltharp, both of El Monte, Calif. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Leavenworth.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday October 1, 1960 Melvin A. Clark. Services for Melvin A. CLARK, 53,of Liberal, who died Friday at his home, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Chapel. Born at Sabetha, Mr. Clark grew up in Horton where he attended public schools. He lived at Liberal five years and was a diesel electrician for the Rock Island Railroad at the time of his death. He had been employed by the railroad 35 years. He was a member of the Methodist Chruch and the A.F. & A.M. Lodge at Horton. Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Nina Clark of the home, and a sister, Mrs. Mildred Clark of Horton.

The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday October 1, 1960 91-Year-Old Topekan Dies In Car Wreck. A 91-year-old Topeka woman was killed Friday in a three car collision near Pittsville, Mo. She was Mrs. Effie WHITE, 1260 Lane, who made her home with a sister, Mrs. A. A. Grainger of the same address. Also killed were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Waite of Holden, Mo., daughter and son-in-law of Mrs. White. Mrs. Grainger said Mrs. White left Topeka about two weeks ago to visit her daughter at Holden. The accident Friday occurred as Mrs. White and the Waites were on their way to Kansas City. A press report said the Waite car collided with another vehicle, then crashed against a third car parked in a service station on U.S. 50. Mrs. White was born in Galesburg, Ill., July 9, 1869. Survivors, besides Mrs. Grainger, include two granddaughters, mrs. Garnett Ridenour of Warrensburg, Mo., and Mrs. Jean Brennan of Kansas City.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Penwell-Gabel Chapel for Mrs. Ernest Longaker, 74, of Long Beach, Calif., a former Topekan who died March 29. Survivors are four sons, including Ernest F. Longaker who will return the body to Topeka; and two daughters, Mrs. Susan Barlow and Mrs. Roberta McCann, addresses unknown. Mrs. Longaker was born in Kansas July 19, 1886. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
