Word has been received in Topeka of the death of Fred Rethmeyer, former Topekan, in a hospital at Fort Sam, Houston, Tex., where he was operated upon recently. He was a member of the Twenty-third Infantry band. Among the survivors is a brother, George of Topeka. Funeral services and burial will be in Texas.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday April 2, 1936 Burnham. Glen BURNHAM, 46, of Chanute, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1890, in Lyndon, Ia., and had been a special agent for the Santa Fe more than 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Clara Burnham; and two sons, William and Samuel of Chanute; a brother and four sisters. Funeral services will be in Chanute and burial will be in Tulsa.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday April 2, 1936 Paul Joseph SOMMERS, 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. George Sommers, died Wednesday at the home of his parents, 516 East Gordon street. Besides his parents he is survived by one brother, George, Jr., and one sister, Irene, of the home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Casper Kisner of Topeka and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sommers of Iliff, Colo. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday April 2, 1936 Stormont. Miss Eva STORMONT, 74, relative of the founder of Stormont hospital, died Wednesday morning at Ingleside home. Her father was the late David Stormont, a cousin of Dr. Stormont, founder of the hospital. She was born in Cincinnati, O., June 18, 1861, and had been a resident of Topeka 25 years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian church of Topeka. She is survived by one sister, Miss Jennie Stormont of Topeka, two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be at the United Presbyterian church, Friday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thurday April 2, 1936 Hardy. George Robert HARDY, 67, 1200 Washington street died, Wednesday afternoon at Stormont hospital. He was born in Riley county, North Carolina, May 30, 1868, and had been a resident of Topeka more than 50 years. He was employed at the state house here over 30 years. He is survived by one son, Aaron Hardy of Topeka and three daughters, Mrs. Flossie Goree, Miss Corrine Hardy and Miss Myrtle Hardy all of the home; one brother, Isaac Hardy of Topeka; three sisters, Mrs. Adelaide McNeil of New York City, and Mrs. Missouri McNeil and Mrs. Ella Howard, both of Topeka, and two grandchildren, George Coree and Miss Ruth Hardy of Topeka. The body will lie in state at Bowser's mortuary. Funeral arrangements are not complete.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday April 2, 1936 Samuelson. Otto S. SAMUELSON, 39, of Route 1, died Wednesday morning in the Santa Fe hospital. He was born in Oldsburg, Kan., May 4, 1896, and came to Topeka in 1917, and entered the service of the Santa Fe railroad. In September, 1917, he enlisted in the United States Army and served 14 months over-seas with Company C of the 16th Engineers. He was discharged in May, 1919, and was again employed by the Santa Fe until the time of his death. He was a member of the Methodist church of Oldsburg. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Althea Samuelson and two children, Jane Faye and Armin Otto of the home; one sister, Mrs. Nina Wampler of Frankfort, Kan., and three brothers, Home of Oldsburg, Elmer of Westmoreland and Levi of Los Angeles. Funeral services will be at Wall-Diffenderfer mortuary, Saturday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery. The body will lie in state at Wall-Diffenderfer's mortuary from 12 noon until 9 p.m. Friday.

Atchison, Kan., March 31,(Special) Henry HAND, 68, life-long farm resident of northeast Kansas, died this afternoon at the home here of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Sacks. He is survived by four children, one son, Charles Hand, living at 313 Quincy street, Topeka. Funeral services will be in Leavenworth Thursday.
The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday April 1, 1936 M'Rae John McRAE, 58, died Tuesday morning at his home, 1141 North Kansas avenue. He was a former section foreman for the Rock Island railroad, and had moved to Topeka only three weeks ago. He was born in Bellmont, Miss. in 1878, and came to Kansas in 1921. He lived in Herington nine years before going to Clifton where he lived seven years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pauline McRae, and a daughter, Marlene, both of the home; a stepdaughter, Delnore Phelan of Hoyt, Kan.; his mother, Mrs. A.C. McRae, two brothers, Wallace and Robert and three sisters, Mrs. Alex Bernard, Miss Tina and Miss Ella McRae, all of Bellmont, Miss., and six children by a former marriage, Mrs. Maggie Shook, Booneville, Miss.; Shelly, Colonel, Leslie, John and Tascall, all living in Mississippit. Funeral arrangements are not complete.
The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday April 1, 1936 Woodington. Mrs. Agnes M. WOODINGTON, 85, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Reynolds, in Eskridge, Kan. She was born June 6, 1950, in Virginia and came to Cherryvale, Kan., in 1877. She lived in Topeka six years before moving to Eskridge to make her home with her daughter where she had lived for one year. She was a member of the Methodist church. She is survived by her husband, J.C. Woodington, of Eskridge; four daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Reynolds, Eskridge; Miss Rachael Woodington of Topeka; Mrs. Esther Gillispie of Topeka and Mrs. Eliza Pyle of Guthrie, Okla.; two sons, C.L. Woodington of Topeka and Home Woodington of San Bernardino, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren. The body will be brought to Topeka for burial in Memorial Park cemetery. Funeral arrangement are not complete.

The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday December 1, 1960 Addie Plants, 84, Dies Here. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Parker Mortuary for Mrs. Addie L. PLANTS, 84, a resident of Hoyt and Topeka communities, who died in a hospital here Wednesday. She was born at Meriden, July 8, 1876, and was a member of the Muddy Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Orville A. Plants of Hoyt and A.E. Plants of Cupertino, Calif.; a brother, Elmer Bainbridge, 116 W. 6th; a sister, Mrs. Lelia Swan of Scranton; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Hoyt Cemtery.

The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday April 2, 1961 Rev. C. A. Richard Is Dead Here at 80. The Rev. Charles A. RICHARD, former minister of the First Christian Churches of Topeka, Manhattan and Lawrence, died in a Topeka hospital Saturday after a short illness. He was 80. He lived in Topeka 16 years after coming here from Seneca, where he was minister of the Congregational Church. He also served pastorates at Circleville and Goff. Born Aug. 21, 1880, at Holton, he was past president of the Topeka Council of Churches, past grand-chaplin of the Grand Masonic Lodge of Kansas and a state senator for two terms. For many years he was chaplain and later superintendent of the Kansas State Reformatory at Hutchinson. In 1927 as a result of his prominence as minister, educator and lecturer, he was chose to join the Sherwood Eddy European Seminary. After retirement, he represented Kansas farm organizations in the Legislature and was retained in an advisory capacity by the Kansas Farmers Union. He attended Larkingburg schools and was a graduate of Campbell College at Holton in 1905. He married Lulu Ford in 1902. She died in 1954. In 1960, he was married to Emily Scrafford Magill, his surviving widow of the Town House Apartments. Following graduation from college, he taught school several years and then attended Chicago University. At Lawrence he was president of the Kansas Christian Missionary Society. In Topeka he taught the Loyal Berean Sunday School Class. He and his twin brother, the Rev. Frank Richard of Hutchinson, observed thier 80th birthday in the pulpit in 1960. Survivors other than his widow and brother are three sons, Glenn Richard of Alexandria, Va., Quentin Richard of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Charles Richard, Jr., of Minneapolis, Minn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Christian Church with the Rev. David M. Bryan officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Seneca Cemetery. The body will be at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home from 4 p.m. today until 9 a.m. Tuesday.

He was bron in Washington County, June 30, 1884, and moved from Topeka about 13 years ago. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. O.L. Horton, of Sedalia, Mrs. Howard Williams of Westmoreland, and Mrs. Laura Banta, 911 Jewell. Burial will be in Kansas City.

She was born Sept. 25, 1881 in Hallagerde, Sweden, and came to Scranton in 1903. She was a member of the Scranton Convenant Church and a charter member, 50 years, of the Convenant Ladies Aid. Surviving are four daughters, Miss Hilda Segelquist of Scranton,; Mrs. Albert Rendell of Carbondale; Mrs. Hattie Fortune of Fresno, Calif.; and Mrs. Robert Shepard of Scranton; four sons, Carl, Gus and Joe Segelquist, all of Scranton, and John Segelquist, 2644 Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Emma Anderson of Sweden; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Scranton Conenant Church with burial in the Scranton Cemetery. The Carey Funeral Home of Burlingame is in charge.

He lived in Topeka since 1926 and was employed by the Kansas Power and Light Co. He was a charter member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church and a member of Topeka IOOF Lodge No. 1. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mildred M. VOSE at home; his mother, Mrs. W.F. Vose of Stockton; three brothers, Paul Vose of Logan, Boyd Vose of Speed and Perry Vose, 3019 Sproaten Lane. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Highland Park Presbyterian Church. The body will be at the Ted Tibbits Mortuary until noon Wednesday.
