The Topeka Daily Capital Monday April 3, 1961 Former C of C Manager Dies. Franklin L. (Moon) INMAN, former manager of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce, died on the way to a Topeka hospital early Sunday after suffering a heart attack. He was 51. Moon Inman was named general manager of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce Jan. 1, 1948, a position he held for nine years. In 1956 he joined a national public relations firm with headquarters in Chicago. In this work, he was assigned to various city projects in the United States. He currently had been serving as public relations director of the St. Mary's Hospital at Long Beach, Calif. He arrived in Topeka Friday and planned to spend several days hers before returning to California. He was a native of Indianapolis, Ind. Before coming to Topeka he had served four years as field secretary for the United States Chamber of Commerce and then as secretary-manager of the Chamber of Commerce at Muskegee, Okla. He attended high school at Indianapolis and the School of Commerce and Finance at the University of Indiana at Bloomington. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and Elk's Lodge. Mr. Inman had suffered from a heart ailment for some time. He was at home in Topeka on leave for five months last year recuperating after suffering a setback. Among survivors are the widow, Mrs. Josephine Inman of the home at 3900 Mission Court, and a brother, Joel W. Inman of Oklahoma City, Okla. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Wall-Diffenderfer Chapel, which will be followed with cremation and burial.
The Topeka Daily Capital Monday April 3, 1961 Melissa Hester Lee. Melissa Hester LEE, 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levi V. LEE, 1316 N. Madison, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital after a two week illness from a heart infection. She was born in Topeka Sept. 3, 1957, and attended Sunday school at the Second Baptist Chruch. Other survivors are two sisters, Sandra and Roxann, and two brothers, Levi Lee, Jr., and Wayne Lee, all at home; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lee, 1321 N. Jefferson; and a grandfather, Louis Fisher, 1412 N. Jackson. Gaines and Son Funeral Home is in charge.
The Topeka Daily Capital Monday April 3, 1961 Local Woman Is Dead at 65; Rites Tuesday. Mrs. Blanche B. OSTRANDER, 65, of 416 W. Fairchild, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital after a short illness. She was a life-time resident of Shawnee County. Born July 20, 1895, near Elmont, she was a member of the Kansas Avenue Methodist Chruch and the WSCS of the church. Surviving are her widower, Edward Ostrander at home; two daughters, Mrs. Thelma Lester of Onaga and Mrs. Marie Rogers, Route 2; nine sons, John Ostrander, 915 W. 5th, Donald Ostrander, 3333 Plass, Everett Ostrander, 2019 N. Kansas, William Ostrander, Route 2, Eldon Ostrander, 1921 Michigan, Charles Ostrander, 1310 Kellam, Eugene Ostrander, 3305 Ohio, Lloyd Ostrander, 720 Liberty and Ivan Ostrander, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hankamer, 3535 Huntoon, Mrs. Alice B. Beouy of Elmont and Mrs. Garnett English of Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Chester Jackson, 2834 Iowa and Ray Jackson of Norfolk, Va.; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Kansas Avenue Methodist Church with burial in Half Day Cemetery at Elmont. The body will be the Davidson-Eslinger-Duff Funeral Home until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 5, 1952 Mrs. Carrie Bond. Mrs. Carrie Belle BOND, 77, died Friday at the Methodist Home for the Aged after a long illness. She was the widow of the late William F. Bond. Mrs. Bond had been a resident of Topeka for 40 years. She was born at Asheville, Kan., January 9, 1875. Mrs. Bond was a member of the Baptist Church of Beloit, the Royal Neighbors, the Order of the Eastern Star and Trinity Shrine at Kansas City. She is suvived by a son, John L. Hallam of Spokane, Wash., a granddaughter, Mrs. Mary Ellen Johnson of San Diego, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nellie Hallam of Seattle; a sister, Mrs. Alex Williams of Beloit; a niece, three nephews and several cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 5, 1952 Mrs. Mina North. Mrs. Mina Hardenbrook NORTH, 67, former Topekan, died December 31 in Los Angeles, Calif. She was born in Belleville, Kan., and made her home in Topeka for 20years before moving to Los Angeles 14 years ago. She was the mother of Richard North and Mrs. Frances Harris. Two grandchildren also survive. The funeral will be Saturday at Inglewood, Calif.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 5, 1952 Mrs. Vernon Lewis. Mrs. Vernon LEWIS, 50, former Topekan, died Thursday at her home in Boston, Mass. She formerly made her home at 1115 Lane, moved to Boston in 1942. Her husband, Vernon Lewis, formerly was an employee of the Santa Fe freight car department. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Myril Lewis, Boston; a daughter, Mrs. Fern Houston, Pasadena, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lene Lewis, Lawrence, and Mrs. Ethel Johnson, Topeka; three stepsisters, Mrs. Maude Harvey, and Mrs. Pearl Henrie, both of Lawrence, and Mrs. Nettie Brown, Topeka; three stepbrothers, Ottoe and John Henrie, both of Topeka, and George Henrie, Denver, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

She was born in Tecumseh and lived in Topeka and vicinity her entire life. She was a saleswoman at the Crosby Bros store for more than 30 years. Miss Robinson was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and of the Beta Sigma Guild of the church. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Esther Nystrom, Route 4; a niece, Mrs. Margaret Myers, Tecumseh, and two grandnephews. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel with burial in Bethel Cemetery.

Mrs. Dorothy WARD, former Topekan, died Thursday at her home in Iola, according to word received by her sister, Mrs. Athia Graham, 1215 Buchanan. Mrs. Ward, wife of Turner Ward, formerly lived at 1175 Lane and moved to Iola about a year ago. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church and a former member of the church choir. Besides her husband she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lucy Richardson, Iola; two nieces, Mrs. Genevieve Webb and Mrs. Fannie Preer, Topeka; and a nephew, Howard Preer, Topeka. Funeral services and burial will be in Iola.

REICHERTER, 60, of 815 North Monroe, who was injured January 1 in a motor car accident 14 miles west of Kansas City, died last Thursday night in a Topeka hospital. She was born September 25, 1881 in Valley Falls and moved to Topeka 21 years ago. She was a member of the Bloomfield Community Church. She is survived by her husband, Albert Reicherter of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Arlene Gaines, Kansas City; Mrs. Earl Blocher, Wichita, and Mrs. Verla Cain, Topeka; a borther, Orville Webster, Clinton, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Del Alsip, Mrs. Alberta VanDyke and Mrs. Psycha Webster, all of Kansas City and six grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at North Topeka Baptist Church with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.

He was born in Miami, Mo. and had been a resident of Topeka 55 years. He was a Santa Fe employee 51 years. He was a member of the Mount Mariah Masonic Lodge and was one of the oldest deacons of the Anticoch Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons, Orlando and Milburn Dandridge, both of Topeka; a brother, Lilbert Dandridge, Miami, Mo.; two granddaughters and four nephews.

The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 5, 1952 Miss Helen E. Olson, KSES Counselor, Dies. Miss Helen E. OLSON, 1025 Lane, died Thursday night in a Topeka hospital. Miss Olson was born in Topeka and spent most of her life here. She was a graduate of Kansas University and had a masters degree from Columbia University. For 10 years she worked in New York City as Girls' Reserve director of the YWCA. She also was engaged in Girls' Reserve work in Denver, Col.; Sheridan, Wyo.; Wichita and Kansas City, Kan. She was vocational counselor for the state employment service at Wichita, Kansas City, Kan. and at the state office in Topeka. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Beulah Chapter No. 34, OES, Toltec Rite and was a past president of the Alrusa Club. Surviving are a sister, Miss Mabel M. Olson of the home; a brother, Norris A. Olson, Topeka, and a niece, Marimae Olson, Topeka. The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with burial in Topeka Cemetery.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 5, 1952 Lewis L. Alexander. Lewis L. ALEXANDER, 78, 115 East Gordon, died Thursday night in a Topeka hospital. He was born January 20, 1873, in Kentucky and settled in the Wanamaker district west of Topeka when he was nine years old. He was a boilermaker at the Santa Fe Shops for 18 years. He made his home on farm near Meriden from 1927 until 1944, before returning to Topeka. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Sarazen, Torrance, Calif.; Mrs. Charles Turner, New Orleans, La.; and Mrs. Gale Doerr, Denver, Colo.; five sons, William R., Clifford A., Frank L., Clarence D. and Raymond L. Alexander, all of Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. Will Fultz, Topeka, and Mrs. Albert Howey, Burbak, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Miss Rose Etta FIERY, 94, resident of Kansas for 78 years, died Friday morning at the home of her neice, Mrs. Edith Flickinger, 509 East Eighth. She was born May 24, 1853 in Hagerstown, Md. After moving to Kansas, she lived near Valencia until moving to Topeka a year ago. She is survived by two other nieces, Mrs. Etta Sage, and Mrs. Rosa Croasdale of Topeka; and three nephews, Frank Anderson, Route 8; George Anderson, Long Beach, Calif., and Ernest Makin, Canon City, Colo. Private funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary with burial in Valencia Cemetery.

The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday August 27, 1910 Jeremiah NICCUM, an old settler of Shawnee county, died at 4 o'clock yesterday at his home two miles east of Tecumseh. He was 81 years old and came to Kansas in 1854. The cause of his death was dropsy. The funeral will be held from the Tecumseh M.E. church at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in Bethel cemetery.
