SHe died Thursday in Ellsworth. Although she kept a home in Topeka, she lived at the Good Samaritan Home in Ellsworth since 1955. Born Oct. 29, 1874, at Canton, Ohio, she came to Kansas as a child. She was a school teacher in Ellis County 40 years and moved to Topeka in 1947. She attended Central Congregational Church here.
The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday October 4, 1960 Mrs. Brickley Dies at Home; Rites Pending. Mrs. Maude C. BRICKLEY, 84, 1135 College, died Monday at her home after a long illness. Born Aug. 25, 1876, at Mortonsville, Ky., she lived in Topeka 50 years. She formerly was employed by Warren M. Crosby Co. and later was self-employed as a milliner. Mrs. Brickley was a member of the First Methodist Church, Beulah Chapter No 34, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Womens Club. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. May Pendry, and a brother, Ben Davis, both of Kansas City, and several nieces and nephews. Services are pending at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Florence.

DOTY, 34, of rural Meriden, who was killed Monday in a truck-train accident west of here. Burial will be at Wellsville. Survivors include his widow, Roberta, and a daughter, Kimberle, both of the home; his mother, Mrs. Edna Doty, and two sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Wagner and Mrs. Evelyn Wagner, all of Easton; and three brothers, Leland and Floyd of Easton, and Harold, 1700 Washburn. DEADERICK, 81, of 2138 Buchanan, who died Monday in a Topeka hospital. Graveside services and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the New Salem Cemetery at Ashland, Mo. She was born Jan. 6, 1879, at Hartsburg, Mo., and lived at Carthage, Mo., before moving to Topeka in 1948. She was a member of the Tirnity Methodist Church in Topeka and Royal Neighbors Lodge No. 939 and Rebekah Lodge at Carthage. Survivors include a son, Guy H. Vivion, of the home; and two granddaughters.

He was employed as an inspector for the Santa Fe Railroad for over 33 years, retiring in 1956. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church. Survivors include three brothers, W.R. Murray of Albuquerque, N.M., Marrien Murray of Lyons, and D.L. Murray of National City, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. Ethel Buie of Coleman, Tex., Mrs. Estelle Whyte of Brownwood, Tex., Mrs. Malzin Hare of Caldwell, Tex., and Mrs. Lorrine Autrey of Houston, Tex. Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary is in charge.

She was born Oct. 31, 1900, in Dearborn, Mo. She moved to Topeka 35 years ago from Silver Lake. She was a member of the Helena Chapteer No. 210, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Seaman Community Church. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Betty J. Lewis, 2101 N. Winter; one son, Howard K. Day, 1728 Prairie Road; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Howard, 1912 N. Polk, Mrs. Lois Kuhn of Superior, Neb., Mrs. Sindie Brooke, 1215 W. 5th; one brother, David Stagner of Faucett, Neb.; three grandchildren, and her mother, Mrs. Mary E. Wyant of Topeka. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Penwell-Gabel Chapel with burial in Prairie Home Cemetery.

Burton, 83, of 1177 Garfield, a long-time Topeka dentist, did Sunday morning while visiting his daughter in Lincoln, Kan. Born Jan. 24, 1877, he was a graduate of the Kansas City Dental College. He practiced in Osage City, Burlingame and Topeka for more than 50 years. He retired in 1959. He had his Topeka office in the National Revserve Building. He was a member of the Lowman Memorial Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 17, the Shawnee County Dental Society and was a past patron of Helena Chapter No 210, Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Helen Walters of Lincoln; three grandchildren; one brother, Dick Burton of Hopeville, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Cain of Fredonia and Mrs. Josephine Carey of South St. Gabriel, Calif. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wall-Diffenderfer Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Union Lodge No. 7, AF&AM, of Junction City will be in charge of graveside services. He died Monday at his home after a long illness. Born July 25, 1904, at Junction City, he lived there until moving to Topeka about 17 years ago. He was an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 1958. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Union Lodge No. 7, AF&AM, both of Junction City. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Evelyn Klingman of the home; a brother, Oscar Klingman of Shawnee Mission; and a sister, Mrs. Edna Christensen of Camden, Mo.

JOSLIN, 67, of Richland, formerly of Topeka, died Monday night in a local hospital after an extended illness. He was born Aug. 4, 1893, in Missouri and was a resident of Topeka 40 years before moving to Richland 3 1/2 months ago. Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the Hill Packing Co. Survivors include his widow, Lessie, of the home; two sons, Albert V. Jr., of the home, and James E., 2724 Monroe; three daughters, Mrs. LaVerne Eastman, of the home; Mrs. Frances Trusty, Route 4, Topeka, and Mrs. Barbara Jean McLaughlin, Richland; and 18 grandchildren. Services will be announced by Davidson-Eslinger-Duff Funeral Home.

Besides his parents he is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Peterson and his grandmother, Mrs. William Schultz, all of Topeka. Funeral services will be at Wall-Diffenderfer's mortuary, Saturday at 4:45 p.m. Burial will be in Topeka cemetery. The body will lie in state at the home, 306 Lake street until 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday April 4, 1936 Hollis. J.W. HOLLIS, 86, Kansas pioneer, died Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A.E. Wiley in Carbondale, Kan. He was for a number of years president of the First National Bank of Overbrook, Kan. He was born in Yelvertoft, England. He is survived by five sons and two daughters. Funeral serivces were held Friday afternoon at the church in Overbrook. Burial was in Valley Brook cemetery.
The Topeka Daily Capital Friday April 3, 1936 Beach. Henry BEACH died Wednesday night at his home, 424 Fillmore street. He was born in Franklin, Tenn, and had lived in Topeka for 42 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jennie Beach of the home, one daughter, Mrs. Maggie Dunn and one granddaughter, Miss Dorothy Dunn, both of Topeka. The body was taken to Gaines & Son's funeral home pending funeral arrangements.

She is survived by one son, Clarence R. Douglass of Topeka; three daughters, Mrs. Ed Glusing and Mrs. Raymond Taylor of Topeka, and Mrs. Earl Hartman of Massillon, O., and three grandchildren. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bettie McGee, of Topeka; three sistes, Mrs.Lula Joyce, Mrs. Amanda Davis, and Mrs. Leona Bailey, all of Topeka; five nieces and one nephew. Funeral services will be at Gaines and Sons funeral home, Saturday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Auburn cemetery.

He was born in Polan, February 25, 1864, and had been a resident of Topeka 29 years. He was employed by the Santa Fe until 1930 when he retired. He was a machinist. He was a member of the Colege Avenue Baptist church and the Security Benefit association. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cary Stroscher; two daughters, Mrs. G.H. Dreyer and Mrs. H.A. Hosier, of Topeka; one brother, William Stroscher in Germany, and five grandchildren.

Born July 10, 1884, in Highland, he was a member of the Highland AF&AM more than 50 years, a member of the Downtown Topeka Kiwanis Club and the First Congregational Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Grace Bender at home; a daughter, Mrs. H.C. MAY of Seattle, Wash.; two sons, John Bender of Lenox, Mass.; and Louis Bender, jr. of Chicago; a brother, Lester Bender of Independence, Mo.; and three granddaughters. Services will be announced by the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary.

He lived in Topeka 37 years and was a member of Truck Drivers' Union No. 696. Surviving are two sons, J.W. Cunningham at home and Harold Dean Cunningham of the U.S. Army in Germany; his mother, Mrs. Ethel Cunningham at home; and two brothers, James C. Cunningham of Burlington, Colo., and Orla T. Cunningham of Topeka. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Penwell-Gabel Chapel with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

COLLINS, 14, of 211 W. 21st, who was accidentally shot Saturday, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Penwell-Gabel Chapel with burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The boy died when a .22 caliber rifle discharged at a friend's home. He was born in Concordia Nov. 7, 1946, and lived in Topeka nine years. He attended Quinton Heights grade school and was a 9th grader at Crane Junior High School. The boy was a member of Explorer Scouts Post No. 4 of the Baptist Church. Surviving are his parents, Mr.and Mrs. Francis N. Collins of the home; a sister, Colene Collins fo the hom; and his grandmothers, Mrs. May Wells of Lynn, and Mrs. Fred Collins of 113 W. 17th.
