The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday October 7, 1951 Mrs. Horace Clark. A former Topekan, Mirs. Ida Bertel CLARK, wife of Horace CLARK of Venice, Calif., died Friday in Los Angeles. She was 82 years old. She was born September 12, 1869, in Batesville, Ind., and moved to Topeka with her family in 1875, settling on a farm south of Pauline. She married Horace Clark October 1, 1890. They lived in Topeka until they moved to California in 1900. She was a member of the Christian Science Church of Venice. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. H.M. Goodrich, 2741 Fairway Drive and a nephew, Harvey B. Goodrich, of the same address.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday October 7, 1951 Harry D. Austin. Harry Dwight AUSTIN, 1014 Woodward, died Saturday afternoon at a local hospital. He was born in Burlingame and had lived in Topeka since 1918. He was a fireman for the Kansas Power & Light Company for 31 years. A veteran of World War I, he served overseas with the 805th Pioneer Infantry. He was a former member of the Jordan Patterson Post No. 319, American Legion and the Shiloh Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Florence V. Austin, of the hme; one daughter, Miss Melba Hortense Austin, a student at Kansas University; one son, Dwight Cornelius Austin, of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Ada Locke and Mrs. Oletha Radford, Topeka; Mrs. Lena Mae Comans, Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Frances Ragin, Los Angeles; four brothers, Elmer Austin, Walkerton, Ind.; Wesley Austin, Saline; Vernon Austin, Wichita; Cpl. Victor Austin, Fort Leavenworth; two nieces , two nephews, and three grand-nieces.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday October 7, 1951 Miss Carol Lee Haefele Dies; Victim of Polio. Carol Lee HAEFELE, 20, the daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Haefele, died of poliomyelitis Saturday in a Topeka hospital. She was born here October 7, 1930, and had been a resident of Topeka all her life. Miss Haefele was a nurse at St. Francis Hospital. She was a graduate of Hayden High School and St. Francis School of Nursing and was a member of the Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. In addition to her parents she is survived by five brothers, John and Richard of Topeka; M/Sgt. Edward in Japan, Sgt. Max. in San Diego, and S/Sgt. James, Randolph Field, Texas; and four sisters, Mrs. R.W. Robinson, Vallejo, Calif., Mrs. Norman D. Merryman, Topeka, and Mary and Ethel of the home. The body will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Holy Name Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. the family has asked that friends forego flowers, suggesting contributions to the Polio Fund instead.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 13, 1951 Robert G. Hiltibrand. Robert Gerald HILTIBRAND, 17, was killed Tuesday in a motorcar accident near Palm City, Calif., according to word received. He was in the Navy stationed at San Diego, Calif. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Blanche Hiltibrand, 834 Jefferson; and a brother, Sgt. Jack Hiltibrand, Shreveport, La. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Valley Falls Baptist Church with interment in Valley Falls Cemetery.

He was born April 7, 1863 in Indiana and had made his home in Topeka since 1910. He is survived by a brother, Joe Fritts, Topeka; three nephews, Jesse Fritts, Topeka; John Fritts, Pomona and Albert Fritts, Ottawa; four nieces, Mrs. Estella Burch, Topeka; Mrs. Minnie Humpharies, Galva, Kan.; Mrs. Omeda Caley, Burns, Kans.; and Mrs. Mary Bolson, Toronto, Kan.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 13, 1951 Mrs. Groff Dies; Life-Long Topekan. Mrs. Helen Johnston GROFF, 58, widow of the late B.Harold Groff, died Friday in a Topeka hospital. She suffered a heart attack two weeks ago. Mrs. Groff was born January 17, 1892 in Topeka and was a lifelong resident of this city. She was a member of the Central Congregational Church, the Women's group of that church, the Toltec Rite, Social Order of the Beaucreants and Beulah Chaper, OES. She was active in Red Cross canteen work. She was married to Mr. Groff June 7, 1916. Mr. Groff who was a secretary of the Scottish Rite bodies in Topeka, died October 28, 1950. She is survived by two sons, James Robert Groff, Topeka, and Dr. Robert C. Groff, Davenport, Iowa; two grandchildren, Bruce Talbott Groff, Topeka; and Richard Moore Groff, Davenport, Iowa; and three sisters, Mrs. Roy R. Burke, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. G.A. Boon, and Mrs. G.J. Hall, both of Ontario, Calif.

She was born December 20, 1874 at Evansville, Ind., but had been a resident of Rossville for more than 70 years. She is survived by here husband, J.N.BUSH of the home; a brother, John Martin, Rossville; and four sisters, Mrs. Dolly Lillard, Rossvile; Mrs. Nellie Lillard, Rossville, Mrs. N.E. Keener, Wakefield, and Mrs. Faye Harder, 412 East Fifth, Topeka.

He is survived by three sons, Ed and Walter Trimble, Wichita and Howard Trimble, Fullerton, calif., and two brothers, Ross Trimble, Grantville, and Robert Trimble, Rock Creek.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 13, 1951 Harry Schlegel. Harry SCHEGEL, 75, formerly of Topeka, died recently at Fort Stockton, Texas, according to word received in Topeka. He left Topeka about 30 years ago. A sister, Mrs. Margaret Wallace, of Fort Stockton, and several nieces and nephews survive. Interment was at Spring Valley, Ill.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday January 13, 1951 Mrs. Viola J. Clay. Mrs. Viola Jefferies CLAY, 59, widow of the late Harold J. Clay, and a former Topekan, died Thursday in Oklahoma City. Mrs.Clay was born near Elmdale, Kan., and was a graduate nurse at the Santa Fe Hospital at Topeka. Her husband, who died May 30, 1949, formerly associated with the Capper engraving department in Topeka. She is survived by a son, James F. Clay, Britton, Okla.; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Jarchow, Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren. Interment will be Saturday in Oklahoma City.

He was born October 3, 1870, in Berry, Ill. He was custodian of the Auburn High School and sexton of the Auburn Cemetery many years. He was a member of the Auburn Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Olive Harris, of the home; a brother, John Harris, Topeka; four nieces and five nephews.

She was born May 9, 1872, at Centralia, Ill., and lived in Topeka for 40 years. She was a member of Seward Avenue Baptist Church, Naomi and Rebekah lodges and WRC of Topeka. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mury Josephine Campbell of Los Angeles and Mrs. Daisy M. Lemon of Salina. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary with burial in Topeka Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 28, 1874, at Redding, Pa., and came to Topeka with her parents in 1880. Mrs. Ebey was secretary in the Masonic Grand Lodge office at 8th and Harrison for 40 years before she retired. She was a member of the Topeka Council No. 1., Toltec Rite; Topeka Chapter No. 462, Order of the Eastern Star; Aldrich No. 17, Women's Relief Corps, and Lady Sheriden Tent No. 30, Daughters of Union Veterans. Mrs. Ebey attended the Church of Christ, Scientist. Survivors include one son, Chester F. Ebey of the home; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Wall-Diffenderfer Chapel with burial in Rochester Cemetery.

KENNEY of Ozawkie, C.A. KENNEY of Bachelor, la., and H.E. KENNEY of St. Joseph, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Emmeline FULLGRA of Helena, Mo., and Mrs. Cathleen SCHLEE of LaJunta, Colo.; and one sister, Mrs. Nell STOCKEY of Yuba City, Calif.
