The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday July 16, 1939 Sarah Elizabeth Byers. Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Byers, 87, died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grace Anderson, 304 East Fourth Street. She was born in Indiana and come to Kansas with her parents when a small girl. She had lived in Topeka seventy years. Besides Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Byers is survived by three sons, L.W. Walton and Robert L. Walton, both of Pueblo, Colo., and W. M. Walton, of Whittier, Calif.; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Penwell Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday July 16, 1939 Mrs. Isolina A. Pierce. Mrs. Isolina A. PIERCE, 79, widow of George M. Pierce, died Saturday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eugene E. Peak, 1308 Western Avenue. She was born October 31, 1859, in Springersville, Ind., and came to Kansas with her parents in 1877, settling at Larned. She was a member of the Central Congreagtional Chruch. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Peak; three sisters, Mrs. O.W. Dawson, Great Bend, Kan.; Mrs. Anna Van Horn, of Hutchinson, and Mrs. Olive Histed, of Topeka; one brother, Curtis W. Monger, of Wichita, and one granddaughter, Margaret I. Peak, of Topeka. The body was taken to the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary pending funeral arrangements.

He is survived by Mrs. Patterson and another sister, Mrs. Dora WEBER, of Kansas City, Mo. The body was taken to the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary pending funeral arrangements.

She was born in Tennessee and came to Kansas with some of the first immigrants. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are two neices. The body was taken to Gaines and Son Funeral Home, pending funeral arrangements.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday July 16, 1939 Benjamin F. Thompson. Benjamin F. THOMPSON, 75, of 116 North Elmwood Street, died Saturday in a Topeka hospital. He was born in Mason City, Ill., and came to Kansas at the age of nine. He had been a resident of Topeka for the past sixteen years and was a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Matilda Thompson, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Grace B. Sparklin of Chicago; one son, Clarence Thompson of Topeka; two brothers, Harry and Edward Thompson, both of Marysville, Kan., and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the Penwell Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday July 16, 1939 Mrs. Clara E. Brown. Mrs. Clara E. BROWN, 83, died Saturday at the Methodist Home for the Aged. She was born in St. Paul, Minn., September 4, 1855. She was married to Charles F. Brown in 1875; Mr. Brown died in 1904. She lived at the home of J.J. Schenck, 1206 West Sixth Street, for many years.Since 1933, she had made her home at the Methodist Home. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Potwin Presbyterian Church and of the Eastern Star. Among the nieces, nephews, and cousins, who survive is Mrs. W.E. Atchison, Topeka. Funeral services will be at the Penwell Funeral Home at 4 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery.

Funeral services for Matt Weightman, banker and building and load executive who died Friday, will be at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Dr. W. Ernest Collins, pastor of the Central Congregational Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. The body will lie in state until 9 p.m. at Mr. Weightman's home, 1163 Fillmore Street. Survivors of Mr. Weightman are Mrs. Weightman, the widow; two daughters, Mrs. W.A. Tomlinson of Topeka; and Mrs. J.H. Bauerlein of Burlington; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Weightman Stevenson of Tacoma, Wash.; one brother, John W. Weightman of Los Angeles, Calif.; a step-daughter, Mrs. John Alden Weightman of New York City; a step-son, Frank W. O'Reilly of Evansville, Ind.; and eight grandchildren.

He was born June 15, 1885, at Pfeiffer, Russia, and had lived in Topeka since 1904. He was a retired railroad carpenter and a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He is survived by six sons, Anthony, Jacob J., Joseph and Wendelin Roth, all of Topeka; John Roth, Los Angeles, Calif.,and Phillip Roth, Washington, D.C.; six daughters, Mrs. Mary Kamer, Denver, Colo.; Sister Ann Vincent, Xavier, Kan.; Sister Theodosia, Deer Lodge, Mont.; Miss Rose Roth, Topeka; Mrs. Anna Rose and Mrs. Viola Varuch, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Gottlieb Mazig, Chicago, Ill., and 26 grandchildren. Brennan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday March 27, 1958 Mrs. Floss Clare. Funeral services for Mrs. Floss CLARE, 72, a former Topeka, will be held today at San Diego, Calif. Graveside services will follow later in Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Clare died Sunday at her home in San Diego. She was born in Topeka and attended public schools here before she was married. Mrs. Clare had lived in San Diego about 10 years. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Surviving are two sons, Paul Clare, Houston, Texas, and Ralph Clare, Salina; a brother, M.F. Eddy, Daytona Beach, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. R.E. Abell, 2426 Beverly Court, and a grandchild.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday March 27, 1958 Burris Van WEY. Burris Van WEY, former Topekan, died Tuesday in a Sacramento, Calif., hospital. He was born at Muskotah, Kan., and attended the Topeka schools. He lived in San Francisco before moving to Sacramento about 13 years ago. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Goldie Van Wey of the home, four daughters, a son, 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a half-brother, Guy Flood, Oakland, Calif. He was a cousin of Mrs. Mildred Neal of Topeka and Mrs. Florence Allen, of Hoyt. Funeral services and burial will be in Sacramento.
The Topeka Daily Capital Thursday March 27, 1958 Mrs. Hannah Ijams. Mrs. Hannah IJAMS, 79, of Grantville, died Wednesday in a Topeka hospital. She was born May 28, 1878, near Etterville, Mo., and had lived in the Grantville community 40 years. Her husband, John W. IJAMS died in 1942. She was a member of the Christian Church. She is survived by two sons, Gail and Paul IJAMS, both of Topeka; a brother, James FINDLEY, Glendale, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Jane TAYLOR, Glendale, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Parker Mortuary with burial in Grantville Cemetery. The casket will not be open after service.
The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday March 26, 1958 Russell S. Montgomery. Russell S. MONTGOMERY, 83, died Tuesday at his home, 1644 Buchanan. He was born August 2, 1874, in Topeka. Later he moved to Texas where he was engaged in farming. He retired and returned to Topeka seven years ago. He was a member of the Orient Lodge No. 51, A.F. & A.M. , Topeka Chapter, No. 5, Zabud Council No. 4, and the Armstrong Camp of the Spanish-American War Veterans. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Mary Mischke, of the home; a niece and a nephew. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary.
The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday March 26, 1958 Edgar R. Frachiseur. Edgar Reese FRACHISEUR, 51, former Topeka Santa Fe employee, died Saturday in a hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. He was born in Temple, Texas, and was a draftsman and assistant engineer in the signal engineer system office at Topeka from December, 1940 to July, 1950. He was transferred on July 1, 1950, to Los Angeles as a general signal supervisor and was appointed signal engineer of the Santa Fe Coast Lines, March 1, 1951. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Polly Frachiseur; a daughter, Elizabeth Frachiseur of the home and a son, Rees Frachiesur, Alhambra, Calif. Funeral services and burial will be Thursday at Brownwood, Texas.

She was born near Troy and lived in Northeast Kansas until she moved to St. Joseph in 1935. She was a member of the Salvation Army. Besides her son in Topeka, she is survived by three other sons, Richard and Emmett Ingram, both of St. Joseph, and Donald Ingram, Marion, Ind.; five daughters, Mrs. Grace Trimmer, Mrs. Dorothy Johnson, Mrs. Virginia DeSpain and Mrs. Erma Crawford, all of St. Joseph and Mrs. Helen Brown, Kennewich, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Hester Collins, St. Joseph; three brothers, Earl Judd, Topeka; Seth and William Judd, both of Troy; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Wesley, Topeka; five sons, Benjamin Jr., Gary, Robert, David and Charles Wesley, Topeka; a daughter, Donna Dean Wesley, Topeka; her parents, MR. and Mrs. Charles Dean, Topeka; six aunts and seven uncles. The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday March 26, 1958 Mrs. Emily Peterson. Mrs. Emily Kate PETERSON, 90, died Tuesday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Virgie Patrick, southeast of Burlingame. Mrs. Peterson was born July 29, 1867, in Pennsylvania and came with her parents to Burlingame when she was two years old. She moved to Colorado in 1916 and returned to Burlingame in 1943. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors other than Mrs. Patrick, are two sons, Roy Peterson of Harveyville and John Peterson of Burlingame. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Carey Funeral Home of Burlingame.
The Topeka Daily Capital Wednesday March 26, 1958 Mrs. Annie L. Stewart. Mrs. Annie L. STEWART, 100, the oldest resident of St. Marys died Tuesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ina Evans, St. Marys. Mrs. Stewart, who would have been 101 April 18, was born in Belmont County, Ohio. She was married to George R. Stewart on December 25, 1876. They lived in Wheeling, W. Va., until 1884 when they moved to a farm north of St. Marys. Mr. Stewart died February 12, 1925. Mrs. Stewart's 100th birthday celebration was held at an open house at the home of her daughter, mrs. Rosa JOHNSON, Topeka. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Husted, Salina; Mrs. Lida STEPHENSON, Hutchinson, Mrs. Ina Evans and Mrs. Rosa Johnson; two sons, Albert, Hutchinson, and James, Boise, Idaho; 20 grandchildren and may great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Marys Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Kapp in charge. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery, St. Marys. The body will lie in state at the Verschelden Funeral Home, St. Marys, from this evening until the time of service.
