He was born in Mayetta December 20, 1904, and lived there until coming to Topeka in 1920. he was a painter and interior decorator. He was a member of Kansas Avenue Methodist Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Minnie Miller, of the home; his mother, Mrs. John TORK and his stepfather, both of Mayetta; two brothers, Edward of 2107 Gabler and Earl of Forest Grove, Ore., and two nieces; Rose Mary PHILIPS and Mary Jo MILLER of Topeka.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday April 1, 1951 George Kirkner. George KIRKNER, 84, of 1621 Harrison, died Saturday following a long illness. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa, February 18, 1867, and lived in Carbondale, where he operated a funeral home from 1900 to 1939, when he came to Topeka. He was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Harriet Kirkner of the home; two daughters, Mrs. A.V. ROBISON of Burlingame and Mrs. Earl HASSINGER of Emporia, and one grandson, Robert Robison of Topeka.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday March 3, 1951 Mrs. Mary Jane Judy. Mrs. Mary Jane JUDY, 82, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D.D. DURFLINGER, 235 Clay. She was born November 19, 1868, in St. Louis, Mo., and made her home in Jefferson County before moving to Topeka 23 years ago. She was a member of the Holy Name Church. She is survived by two sons, Asa Judy, Oskaloosa, and Eugene Judy, Atlanta, Ga.; three daughters, Miss Catherine Judy, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Clyde E. DENNEN and Mrs. DURFLINGER, both of Topeka; two brothers, Dennis and John BERGIN, both of Perry, and eight grandchildren. Her husband, Oliver W. Judy, died in 1926. A son, William Judy, also preceded her in death.
The Topeka Daily Capital. Saturday March 3, 1951 Mrs. Lucy E. Daily. Mrs. Lucy E. DAILY, 72, of Joplin, Mo., died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles L. DAVIS, 2302 West Seventeenth. She had been making her home with her daughter three months. She was born July 10, 1879, in Springfield, Mo., and had made her home in Joplin most of her life. She was a member of the Christian Church. Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Donn Daily, Webster Groves, Mo., and four grandchildren.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday March 3, 1951 Miss Daisy A. Hayes. Miss Daisy A. HAYES, 79, formerly of 720 West Twelfth, died Friday at the Methodist Home for the Aged. Miss Hayes had made her home in Topeka since she was three years old. For many years she was an employee of the car service department of the Santa Fe office. She had made her home at the Methodist Home since 1945. She was a member of the First Methodist Church. She is survived by a sister, Miss Mable HAYES, of the Methodist Home; and and a niece, Miss Esther VINCENT, Chicago, Ill.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday May 3, 1951 Charles E. Sams. Charles E. SAMS, 85, longtime resident of North Topeka, died Thursday in Phoenix, Ariz. He was born February 27, 1866, in Lucas, Iowa, and made his home in Topeka from 1890 until four years ago when he moved to Phoenix. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Virgil LaRUE, Phoenix; two sons, O.F. Sams, Huntington Park, Calif., and Henry Sams, Topeka, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services and interment will be in Phoenix.
The Topeka Daily Capital Saturday May 3, 1951 John William Sams. John William SAMS, 77, a painter and interior decorator for 50 years, died Friday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Glenn M. WILSON, 205 Edgewood. He was born April 4, 1873, in Washington, Ky., and came to Kansas when he was 15 years old, settling in Tribune. He afterward made his home in Doniphan, Nemaha and Montgomery counties before moving to Topeka in 1931. He worked his trade until he retired in 1944. He was a member of the Central Park Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Carolyn E. Sams; three daughters, Mrs. Henry BROWN, Mrs. Elmer SIMMONS and Mrs. WILSON, all of Topeka; three sons, Loy E. Sams, Yuba, Calif., Milton W. and Jack B. Sams, both of Topeka; six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Inez BUTLER, Denver, Colo., and Mrs. E.B. CHAPMAN, Topeka.

She was born July 11, 1873, in Colchester, Ill., and moved to Topeka in 1912 from Nebraska. She was employed at the Topeka State Hospital for 16 years. She was a member of the West Side Christian Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Emma BURCH, Topeka; a granddaughter, Mrs. Donna Lee CORBETT, Route 7; and two sisters in Canada.

He was born April 22, 1897, in St. Louis, Mo., and had made his home in Topeka many years. He maintained an office at 606 Kansas. A brother, Dr. James Quinn of Burlington, Iowa, survives.

Colville; a son, R.B. Colville of Winter Park; and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur BRINTNALL, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Mrs. E.F. HAMILTON of Oregon. The body will be taken to Mount Vernon, N.Y., for burial Monday.

He was born December 26, 1864, in Wilshire, England, and settled in Osage County when he was 16 years old. he had made his home in Topeka and vicinity since 1910. He was a car carpenter at the Santa Fe shops for 22 years, retiring in 1935. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlottie Jane Hurle of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl SHEARER of the home and Mrs. Ruby HELSTROM, Little Rock, Ark.; two sons, Earl Hurle, Topeka, and Trafford Hurle, Kansas City, Mo.; a half-sister, Mrs. Rose PICKETT, Cleveland, Ohio, and a granddaughter. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.

She is survived by her husband, Hugh Chalmers Teel of the home; a son, Warren C. Teel, Parsons; a daughter, Mrs. Ralph FEARN, Las Cruces, N.M.; two sisters, Mrs. John S. DAWSON, Topeka, and Mrs. Elizabeth Teel, Highland; three brothers, William G. KLINE of Tecumseh, James W. Kline of Quenemo and Samuel W. Kline, Lenora, and six grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, at the Winchester Christian Church with burial at 2 p.m., Sunday, at Lenora.

He was in the grocery business at Sabetha for 25 years and later was secretary of the Chamber of Commerce at Holton. He was associated with the Kansas State Historical Society after moving to Topeka in 1930. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Allie B. WELLS of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Opal E. PECKHAM and Mrs. Mildred F. REEVES, both of Denver, Colo.; a granddaughter, a great-granddaughter and a sister, Mrs. Mary J. EDIE, Louisburg, Kan. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home with burial at 3 p.m., Monday, at Freeman, Mo.

He was born March 27, 1939 in Mayetta and moved to Topeka with his mother in 1944. He is survived by his parents, Mrs. Mary ROSARIO and Pete Mzhickteno, both of Topeka; a sister, Mrs. Pauline DeWITT, Topeka; two brothers, Marvin and LaRue Mzhickteno, both of Topeka, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick MATCHIE, of Mayetta.

She was born October 12, 1889, in Noble, Ill. She had been a resident of Webb City since 1924. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Glenwood Christian Church at Noble, Ill., and the Rebekah Lodge at Webb City. She was married to Thurman Phillips December 25, 1912. She is survived by her husband, of the home address in Webb City, a brother, Charles YUNKER, of Noble,Ill., a niece and a nephew. Funeral services and burial will be in Noble.

She was born in Tennessee and had lived in Topeka more than 50 years. Mrs. Scales was the widow of Greene Lewis Scales who died July 24, 1949. She was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Lewis G. Scales of 715 East 10th, and a sister, Mrs. Hazel CARPEN of Los Angeles, Calif.

He was born June 10, 1858, in Georgia and moved to Topeka last month from Memphis, Tenn., to make his home with his daughter. He was a member of the Summerfield Baptist Church of Memphis, Tenn. He is survived by two daughters, Miss Lula MORGAN, Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. WATSON; a sister, Mrs. Louise ROBINSON, Chicago, Ill.; a brother, John Henry MORGAN, Clarksdale, Miss., and six grandchildren.
