    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Monday July 31, 1961 Myrtle J. Sweet. Mrs. Myrtle Josephine SWEET, 44, of 1923 Wilcox Court, died Sunday morning in a Topeka hospital. She became ill Sunday morning at her home and died a short time after she had been rushed to the hospital. Cause of death has not been determined. Mrs. Sweet was born in Terry, Mont., April 25, 1917. She had lived in Topeka about a year. Mrs. Sweet leaves her widower, Gabriel Sweet of the home; one son, Gordon Sweet of Terry; three daughters, Mrs. Carolyn THOMASON of Terry, Mrs. Lorraine SMITH of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs. Beverly FORTIN, now in Japan where her husband is stationed in military service; her mother, Mrs. Myrtle KIRKPATRICK, of Terry; two brothers and two sisters and five grandchildren. Service and burial will be in Terry. The body is at the Brennan Funeral Home.

Christian Science services for Mrs. Anna Gertrude HARRIS, 83, of 831 Lincoln who died Friday in a Topeka hospital, will be read at 9:30 a.m. today at the Wall-Diffenderfer Chape. Mrs. Harris who was born Feb. 26, 1878, at Coatsburg, Ill., had lived in Topeka since 1887. She was the widow of Walter W. HARRIS who died in 1952. She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist of Topeka.

    3. The Topeka Daily Capital Monday July 31, 1961 Isabelle Walker. Mrs. Isabelle WALKER, 74, of 1024 Buchanan, died Sunday at a local hospital. She was born Nov. 4, 1886, in Louisville, Ky., and lived nearly all her life in Topeka. Her husband, the late Joseph Walker, a Topeka fireman, died in 1951. Mrs. Walker attended Lane School in Topeka. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, in which she was a superintendent of the Sunday school, director of the Cradle Ross Department and member of the senior choir, Lydia Raimey Mission Circle, and Deaconess Board. She wa also a director of the church Bible school and local Congress of Baptist Churches. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lorena BRUCE of 1117 W. 11th; three sons, Claude of 907 W. 7th, Andrew of Columbus, Ohio, and Clifford of 901 College; a brother, McKinley WARFIELD of Detroit; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be annouced by Gaines and Son Funeral Home.

Miss Pauline BARRETT, 35, of 1941 Attwood, died at a Topeka hospital late Saturday night after a long illness. She was born in Topeka Feb. 7, 1926, and had lived here all her life. She was a member of the Unity Truth Center, the Green Crutch Club and the Handicappers Club. Among survivors are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.V. Barrett of the home; six brothers, Paul C. He had been ill for more than a year. Born at Downs, Jan. 24, 1902, he had lived there until May, 1959 when he moved to Topeka. He was a member of the First Methodist Chruch at Downs. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Anna Berry of the home; three sons, Kenneth Berry of the home, Daryl Berry of 5620 W. 17th, Terr., and Lyle Berry of Hebron, Neb.; one daughter, Mrs. Pearl June CROSS of Dodge City; also 10 grandchildren. Joseph Franklin MARTZ, 86, of 1133 Mulvane, a retired brick and stone mason, died Sunday afternoon in a local hospital. Born June 11, 1875, in Clark County, Illinois, he was the last survivor of Amanda and Michael Martz who lived in Virginia during the Civil War. He came to Kansas in a covered wagon and lived in Topeka more than 65 years. Survivors include five daughters, Miss Ruth Martz of the home; Mrs. Cecil CONNER of 1027 N. Central, Mrs. Ray HOPPER of 500 Emmett, Mrs. Edith EPLING of 625 Chandler and Mrs. Myrl STANLEY of Lower Lake, Calif.; three sons, Joseph Martz, Jr., of 1016 Jefferson, Clarence Martz of Tulsa, Okla., and George Martz, of Oakland, Calif.; 15 grandchildren, 20 gret-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
