The Topeka Daily Capital Tuesday February 28, 1961 Robert Baker Is Dead at 79; Rites Pending. Robert L. BAKER, 620 Liberty, died Monday in a local hospital. He was 79. He was born March 15, 1881, in Phillips County, and lived in Topeka most of his life. He was a retired Santa Fe Railway carman's helper and a member of the Church of God Holiness. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Stella Baker of the home; seven daughters, Mrs. Elsie REEDUS of Bensenville, Ill.; Mrs. Inez GENETSKE and Mrs. Jennie POTTER, both of Marquette, Wis.,Mrs. Lucille MAUCK of Jamaica, British West Indies; Mrs. Ruth DICK, 537 Oakland; Mrs. Marjorie HARRISON, 4908 W. 21st., and Mrs. Florence TAYLOR, 1916 Massachusetts; one son, the Rev. Oren BAKER of Sioux City, Iowa; five brothers, Clarence Baker, George Baker and Harvey Baker, all of Anaheim, Calif., Arthur Baker of Elmhurst, Ill., and Benjamin Baker of Texas; 14 granchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She died Saturday in a Topeka nursing home. Mrs. Risley was born Jan. 17, 1873, in Jackson County, Ohio. Oscar Henry HARDING, 79, a restaurant operator in McLouth for 50 years, died Saturday morning at the Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Winchester. he was a member of the I.O.O.F. of Lawrence. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Agnes SHOEMAKER, of McLouth and Mrs. Lucile MOSSER of Kansas City, Kan.; two sons, Ellis Harding of 821 Wabash and George Allen Harding of Lawrence; a sister, Mrs. John CASEBIER of Fort Stockton, Tex.; a brother, George Harding of McLouth, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Born in Crown Point, Ind., on Sept. 21, 1875, Mrs. Bronson lived in Osage City for the past 45 years. She was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and the Dutch Reform Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Bertha SKIDMORE of Lyndon; five sons, Allen, Earl and Myrt(Tom) of Lyndon, Robert of Eads, Colo., and Arthur of Denver; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the McElfresh Mortuary of Osage City. Burial will in Osage City Cemetery.
The Topeka Daily Capital Sunday February 26, 1961 Dr. J.C. Shaw Is Dead at 91. Dr. J.C. SHAW, 91, a physician in this area more than 33 years and father of Warren Shaw of Topeka, Republican nominee for governor in 1956, died Saturday in a Topeka hospital. Dr. Shaw who moved to Kansas as a small boy graduated from the Kansas University Medical School in 1900 and practiced medicine at Holton until 1919, when he moved to Topeka. He retired in 1933. He was born in Westmoreland County, Pa., Oct. 23, 1869, and was a veteran of World War I. Survivors other than his son include his widow, Mrs. J.C. Shaw, 1229 Plass; four other sons, Dr. Robert W. Shaw of Long Beach, Calif., John M. Shaw of Denver, Harold M. Shaw of Fort Bragg, Calif., and Malcolm M. Shaw of LaMesa, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. R.D. Schofer of Moline, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

BEHLER, 53, 2006 E. 6th, who died in a Topeka hospital, Thursday. He was born Nov. 3, 1907, and lived here all his his life. Mr. Behler was a veteran of World War II and a clerk at the Supply Depot. Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday for Mrs. Bertha Marie LINDBERG, 67, 433 Elmwood, in the Wall-Diffenderfer Chapel with burial in McPherson. She died Friday in a local hospital. Born Sept. 5, 1893, in Nebraska, Mrs. Lindberg was a resident of Topeka since 1922. She was a member of the West Side Baptist Church of Topeka and Beulah Chapter No. 34 of the Order of Eastern Star. The body will lie in state at the funeral home until time of services. Surviving are her widower, Robert T. Lingberg at home; a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn HARWOOD of Glasco; three brothers, Elmer HANQUIST of Polk, Neb., Rueben Hanquist of Clarks, Neb., and Carl Hanquist of Perryville, Mo.; a sister, Ebba Hanquist of York, Neb., and two grandchildren. Deskins, of Truckee, Calif., and Clarence Deskins, of Louisville, Ky.; four daughters, Mrs. Hulda WOOD, 2718 Schuler; Mrs. george LEAMAN and MRs. Edith McMANIS, both of Lawrence, and Mrs. Lillian OLIVER of Rough and Ready, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cromwell was a member of Central Park Christian Church, American War Dads Auxiliary, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. Surviving are her widower, Charles G. Cromwell at home; a daughter, Mrs. Helen CLARK of Anadarko, Okla; a son, C.R. WALLER of Shawnee, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Catherin BUTTRAM of Wichita; and four grandchildren. Wahle, general freight agent for the Santa Fe Railway, died in Topeka Thursday after an extended illness. She was 89. She was born Dec. 31, 1871, at Argonia, and was a resident of Topeka most of her life. Mrs. Wahle was a member of Central Congregational Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John RIPLEY, 2400 Crestview; a son, J. Phillip Wahle of DeLand, Fla.; five grandchldren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be private. The Topeka Daily Capital Monday April 30, 1951 James Russell Hamilton. James Russell HAMILTON, 54, of 2735 East Dudley, died Sunday in a Topeka hospital. He was born February 28, 1897, in Topeka and had lived in Topeka his entire life. After World War I, had broken out, he enlisted in the medical detachment of the 130th Field Artillery and served overseas in that 35th Division unit. He was executive in charge of incoming mail for the State Commission of Revenue and Taxation. He was a member of the Golden Rule Lodge No. 90, A.F.& A.M., the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eunice Hamilton of the home; a son, James R. Hamilton Jr., of Paris, France; two sisters, Miss Grace M. Hamilton, Topeka and Mrs. C.W. HAUN, Colville, Wash.
The Topeka Daily Capital Monday April 30, 1951 William A. Boyd. William Alexander BOYD died Sunday at his home, 113 East 12th. He was born in Clark County, Mo., and moved to Topeka 17 years ago. He was associated with the Emahizer-Spielman Furniture Co., several years and for the past eight years had been an employee of the Gibbs Clothing Co. He was a member of the Eagles' Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nell Boyd of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Lovella HOBERECHT, Long Beach, Calif., two grandchildren, three brothers and six sisters.

He was born October 18, 1883, in the Willow Springs community in Douglas County and had spent most of his life in the vicinity of Overbrook. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Forth, of the home; a son, Harry Forth of Topeka; two grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Forth, Ottawa, and Arlie Forth, Houston, Texas; and two sisters, Mrs. Effie ALLEN, Michigan Valley, and Mrs. Myrtle SHOEMAKER, Topeka. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Overbrook Methodist Church. The I.O.O.F. Lodge will conduct graveside services at Overbrook Cemetery.
The Topeka Daily Capital Monday April 30, 1951 Joseph Bollock. Joseph BOLLOCK, 82, retired Santa Fe employee, suffered a fatal heart attack Sunday morning while attending mass at the Sacred Heart Church. He was rushed to a hospital where he died shortly after arrival. His home was at 1517 Seward. Mr. Bollock was born January 31, 1869, in Russia and came to Topeka 58 years ago. He was an employee of the Santa Fe shops. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Bollock of the home; two sons, Joseph Bollock, Cleveland, Ohio, and John Bollock, St. Joseph, Mo.; a daughter, Mrs. T. P. EAKES, Topeka; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
