    1. Sherwood & Swagerty 1870's to 1930

    3. I'm new to this list so please help me with this family. But really two families. I'm looking for the parents of both of these adults.I'm pretty sure I know who Sarah E parents are but not 100% sure. Here goes :) I feel my James Swagerty was born in Osage, Benton, Arkansas in 1841 and he is listed under the family of T J A Swagerty. Then this family moves to Mound City, Linn, Kansas. I find them In Image 17 & 18 of the 2 Aug 1860 Census House number 863/863. Again James is in the house of T J A Swagerty. I can't prove that this is my James but he is in the right area to find his future wife by the name of Sarah E. Sherwood. In the Jul 1860 Census of Ogden, Riley, Kansas Territory Image 3 of 24 House # 95/78 I find Sarah E. Sherwood. She was born in the right time frame again to be the future wife of my James. Sarah was born in 1847 which is right, and in Indiana which is correct. Sarah is in the house hold of Thomas Sherwood 44 M Farmer and his wife Isabel 47. I also think Isabel went by the name of Elizabeth at times. In the 1870 census in Milford, Riley, Kansas Image 3 on 7 July 1870 Census House # 20/18 I find James Swaggerty 29 M W Farmer 1000/700 Arkansas and his wife Sarah E. 24 b. Indiana and their two children. :) Alfred 3 M W born in Kansas and Ida 7/12 F W born in Kansas. Then on 9 Jun 1880 in Dist 258, Madison, Riley, Kansas Image 12 House # 101. Swagerty, James W M 40 Farmer born in Ark, Ky, Ky ( parent infor I feel is wrong). Wife is Sarah E. W F 33 Keeps house born in Indiana. Alfred W M 13 son works on farm attends school born in Kansas, Ida W F 10 dau attends school born in Kansas, Wesly W M 8 son born in Kansas, Libbie W F 6 dau born in Kansas, Thomas W M 4 son born in Kansas and then my William W M 8/12 son born Oct 1879 in Kansas. Then of course they don't have the 1890 census for Kansas so I had to go to the next which is the 1900 census. I found Sarah E Swagerty by herself with her children and it listed her as a widow. I found her in; Dist 1, Charlotte, Bates, Missouri Image 2 of 19 House 18/18. Here is what it said: Swagerty, Sarah E. Head Sept 1846 53 Widow 10/10 Children born in Indiana, N. C., N.C. Ida M. dau Nov 1870 30 Single born in Kansas, ** William A son Oct 1879 20 S born in Kansas, Lucinda J. dau Oct 1882 17 S born in Kansas, James son Feb 1885 15 S born in Kansas, Mary E. dau Mar 1887 13 S born Kansas., Arianna (Anna) dau May 1890 10 S born in Kansas.. Then in 1910 I found her again back in Kansas: Dist 155, 2-wd Topeka, Shawee, Kansas on 20th of Apr 1910 Image 7 of 24 House # 75/79 Swagerty, Sarah Head F W 64 Wd Indiana., Ida dau FW 40 S born in Kansas., Wesley son M W 38 S born in Kansas., Lucinda dau F W 28 S born in Kansas, James son M W 25 S born in Kansas, Ellen dau F W 23 S born in Kansas. My William 29 was living in Concord Twp of Ottawa, Kansas and married to Falby 24 married 5 years one child named Edna 10/12 born in Kansas. I think his wife and daughter dead before the 1920 census and and that is how he became a Widow. Then Sarah had moved to Dist 159 Topeka Ward 2, Shawnee, Kansas, Image 7 of 37 6 Jan 1920 House # 86/86 Swagerty, Sarah head F W 73 W Ind., Ida dau F W 50 S., Kansas, Lucinda dau FW 37 S Kansas, James son M W 34 S. In 1930 I so far can't find Sarah. But I did find William in Dist 12, Thoreau, McKinley, New Mexico 26 Apr 1930 Image 30/31 House # 266/278. Swagerty, William A.
