Earlier she had been a patient in a Topeka hospital from Feb. 29 to March 18. She had a heart ailment. She was born March 6, 1890, at Willard, and spent most of her life in the Rossville community. She was a member of the Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary, both at Rossville. Survivors include her husband, George William Mitchell, at home; two sons, Glen Mitchell, Circleville, and Thoedore Mitchell, Rossville; six daughters, Mrs. Velda O'DONNELL, Mrs. Sylvia BRILL, Mrs. Elvara OLEINIK and Mrs. Roxie BANTA, all of Rossville, Mrs. Juanita POLSON, Holton, and Mrs. Ruby ADAMS, Portland, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Maude HOWE, Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Jess LISTER, Topeka, and Versie Lister, Denver, Colo; 26 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She was born Jan. 18, 1882, in Kansas and had lived in the St Marys community 64 years. She had been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at St. Marys and Royal Neighbors of America. She was married to Joseph Heim at St. Marys in 1904. He died August 29, 1964. Survivors include two daughters, Estelle Heim, at home, and Mrs. Bertha BRIDSON, Route 7; five sons, V.P. WOODARD, 56, who was dead on arrival at a Topeka hospital Saturday night. He had suffered severe burns after he collapsed and fell over a gas heater in his apartment at 1223 Monroe. He was born June 14, 1911 at Dodd City, Tex., and spent his early life at Foreman, Ark., where he attended schools. He had lived in Topeka 26 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was employed by Yellow Cab Company. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mable Woodard, Topeka; two sons, Howard Woodard, Jr., Newton and Melvin Lee Woodard, Fort Gordon, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Ollie Mae STADLER, Route 4; six brothers, Spence Woodard, Midland, Tex., L.B. BAILEY, 81, was died on arrival at a Topeka hospital Sunday after he was stricken at his home, 914 Wood. He had an apparent heart attack. He was born July 8, 1886 at Harrodsburg, Ky., and had lived in Topeka more than 50 years. He was a carman for Santa Fe Railway before he retired several years ago. His wife, Mrs. Alice Bailey, died in 1964. She had been admitted to a Topeka hospital August 26, 1967 and later was released. She was admitted to another Topeka hosptial, Dec. 29, 1967 and was released to a nursing home early in February. She had cancer. She was born May 14, 1903 at Craig, Mo., and had lived in the Netawaka community 45 years. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the ladies aid society at the church and Home Demonstration Unit, all at Netawaka. Mr. Gooch was born Jan. 25, 1895, in Conway Springs, Kan. He had attended Emporia State Teachers College. >From 1920 to 1930 he was a coach and teacher in high schools in Manhattan, El Dorado, Emporia, and Tulsa, Okla. Later he was Ottawa County welfare director. In 1942 he moved from Minneapolis, Kan., to Topeka where he was farm placement supervisor for Kansas State Employment Service. He retired in 1965. He was a member of International Assn. of Public Employes, Mistletoe Lodge No. 269, AF&AM, Conway Springs, and Central United Presbyterian Church, Topeka.
