The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Tuesday November 23, 1920 Fred Gooch May Lose Eyesight Playing With Gunpowder. Fred GOOCH, a little boy, was taken to a local hopsital the first of the week, for treatment after being severely burned with gunpowder. It is stated that he with some other boys were playing with gunpowder, having dug a hole in the ground and placed a pipe filled with the powder in the ground and lit it. When the powder exploded Fred was struck in the face and was severely burned and may lose his eyesight.
