    3. The Liberal Lyre Seward County Friday March 4, 1892 The Dunn Murder Case. Judge S.W. VANDIWERT, of Kingsley, convened Judge BOTKINS's court at Springfield, last Monday, and empaneled a jury when the case of the State vs. Samuel MINTON was put on trial. The State was represented by County Attorney BEAUCHAMP and Cap't PAINTER of Meade. The Defense by J.C. ELLIS and Wm. BARRET of Pratt. Judge Vandiwert dispensed with the armed deputies as not being useful or ornamental and taught our people an object lesson in the manner of conducting courts. On Tuesday the State had all its evidence in and on Wednesday by 3 p.m. the Defense was through. The attorneys then began their arguements and by ten o'clock that night the case was given to the jury, and after being out twelve hours, they bro't in a verdict of "not guilty." The following names citizens composed the jury: W.H. MARTIN, L. LEMERT, A.W. BENNETT, A. TEMPLETON, Geo. BARKEY, R.R. RUSSELL, J.S. CONRAD, H.R. MILNER, Chas. THOMAS, J.M. DENNIS, H.E. BURR, Alex McCOYD. ANDERSON and ESTES are released adn Leach, Chase and Orner are out on $2,500 bonds each.
