The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Monday December 6, 1920 John Gregory Lost Home By Fire Last Night. The home of John GREGORY who lived south of Sunnyside, was entirely consumed by fire last night at about 7 o'clock. No one was in the house at the time. Mrs. Gregory and the children were out of town and Mr. Gregory, after starting a fire, went to a neighbors. The blaze is supposed to have started in the flue. When discovered it was well under way. The fire department could not have saved it as t was more than 1000 feet from the water mains. The contents were also lost except a dresser. The building was entirely covered by insurance. Mr. Gregory had recently built the house which was a nice five-room building.

GAW celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary yesterday by quietly taking dinner at Hotel Cimarron. Mr. and Mrs. Gaw are among the fine families of the city and have many friends who wish them another 34 years of happiness.

O'CONNER of Protection, Kas., and Miss Alta May STUCK of Liberal, were married at the home of the bride two miles north of the city, November 28, by the Rev. J.P. Eadon, officiating. Mrs. O'Conner is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Stuck and has a number of friends who join in wishing them a long and happy married life.

The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Monday November 29, 1920 Allen Black Died Early Last Night. End Came Suddenly And Was a Shock to Family and Many Liberal Friends. Allen BLACK of the firm of Johnson & Black died at his room at the Carson hotel Sunday night about 11:00 o'clock. Mr. Black had taken a room at the Carson house while his family were away for the summer but had just purchased a home and was arranging to move to it. The end came suddenly and was a distinct shock to the family as well as the many friends in and near Liberal. Mr. Black was 42 years old and is survived by his wife, two sons, John and Charles and two daughters, Ruth and Elaine. Allen was a likeable fellow once an acquaintance had been formed, and there is keen regret at his sudden passing. The funeral arrangements have not yet been made, and it was impossible to secure data for an obituary today. The family have our deepest sympathy in their hour of sorrow.
