The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Monday December 27, 1920 Humphrey--Roach. Wendall ROACH of Beaver, and Miss Lena HUMPHREY of the Union neighborhood, near Lorena, were united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage Sunday, December 25th, by the Rev. A.E. Henry. The young folks left for New Mexico for a short honeymoon trip.
The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Monday December 27, 1920 Jones--Coffman. P.D. COFFMAN of Westland, Iowa, and Mrs. Mattie M. JONES, of this city, were married at the court house December 24th, by Judge Campbell. The ceremony was witnessed by about forty guests, being the pupils of Mrs. Coffman's school, known as the Union School southeast of the city. Following the ceremony, congratulations and showers of rice greeted the couple. The guests accompanied them to the depot and gave them a hearty farewell as they boarded train No. 2, which took them to Iowa, where they will make their home on the farm. The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Friday December 24, 1920 Rowan--Boring. A very pretty home wedding took place Sunday, December 19th, 1920, at the home of G.C. Rowan when their son, Ople, was married to Miss Bessie BORING of Liberal, Kansas. Shortly after two o'clock they marched into the parlor to the strains of the wedding march played by the bride's sisters, Mrs. Stutzman. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Stutzman, sister of the groom. The bride wore sky satin, and the groom wore blue serge. The bride carried white and pink carnations. The bridesmaid wore silver grey satin. Rev. Wolfe of Liberal, performed the ceremony. After the ceremony all were invited to the dining room to partake of a bounteous two course dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Rowan are well known and have the best wishes of their many friends for a long and happy life. Many beautiful and useful presents were presented to the newlyweds. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Light and family of Liberal, Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Wells, Miss Emma Thompson, Rev. and Mrs. Wolfe, and children, Fountain and Rick Edwards, C.E. Stutzman and family, H.G. Downing and family, O.D. Rowan and family. Mr. and Mrs. Rowan will make their future home in Liberal.
The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Wednesday December 22, 1920 The funeral of Emil HALL, who died suddenly at Dalhart, Texas, December 17, was held Monday afternoon, at the Methodist Tabernacle, the Rev. Henry, pastor of the church having charge of the services. Rev. Henry gave a masterful sermon, his talk being "The Things Unseen Are The Things Worthwhile." It was a sermon of comfort and help to those whose hearts were filled with sorrow. The services at the grave were conducted by the Masons and were impressive in its simplicity. A profusion of flowers expressed the sympathy of many friends and organizations to which Mr. Hall had belonged. Emil HALL was the son of Robert Hall. He was born in Pattensburg, Mo., March 15, 1882. He received his early education there having graduated from the high school and later took special work in Kansas City. He came to southwest Kansas with his parents and married Miss Bessie LINDSEY of Tyrone, July 4, 1907. To them two sons were born, Robert and William. About a year ago Mr. Hall and his family moved to Liberal. Emil was a hard worker, an energetic business man and a companionable fellow. He was a member of the firm of Bolin-Hall Grain Co., and one of the substantial business men of the city. Besides his wife, two sons, father and sister, Mrs. Lura Hall-Stewart, he leaves many relatives and friends to mourn his loss.

HUBBARD received a wire this morning that his sister, Mrs. Pansy MILBURN, of Dermot, Morton Co., died suddenly Tuesday afternoon. No further particulars were received. Mrs. Hubbard will leave today for Dermot. Mrs. Milburn is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T.G. HUBBARD of this city. (Note: Pansey and Pansy typed as printed in newspaper.)

The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Wednesday December 22, 1920 Fred Eidson Dies At His Home In Colorado. Had Been Operated On Several Times, Failing to Recover From Last. Leaves Wife and Two Children. Was A Former Citizen of Liberal. Carried Mail Between Liberal and Hugoton For Many Years, and Was Well and Favorably Known. A message from Fruita, Colorado, to H.H. Eidson today announced the death of his brother, Fred, at his home in that city. He had undergone several operations in the past few months and his condition had grown so serious that he was unable to withstand the last. Fred was well and favorably known in Liberal, being among the few who came when Liberal was young. He was at one time a mail carrier between Liberal and Hugoton, and during the years of his residence here made a host of friends who will keenly regret his death. He leaves a wife and two children.

The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Monday December 20, 1920 Freeby--Moore. Miss Elsie FREEBY and Mr. Harold MOORE were united in marriage at the Methodist parsonage Sunday at two thirty, by the Rev. A.E. Henry. The only ones being present were O.T. Dowdy and Faye Barry. Mrs. Moore is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Freeby of Spearman, Texas, and has been in Liberal for some time with the F.G. Boles store. She has made a host of friends here. Mr. Moore is employed as a coopersmith at the Rock Island shops and he too has many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Moore left on No. 2 Sunday for Kansas City and St. Louis where they will spend a few weeks after which they will return to Liberal. The Democrat joins in wishing them a long and happy married life.
The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Monday December 20, 1920 Boring--Rowan. One of the prettiest weddings of the season occurred Sunday, December 19, when Miss Bessie BORING, daughter of Jake Boring, who resides south of Liberal, became the wife of Ople ROWAN. The wedding took place at the home of the groom's parents, the Rev. M.O. Wolfe of Liberal officiating. Only immediate members of the bridge and groom families and a few friends were present to witness the ceremony. The bride is a very charming and accomplished young lady and looked very beautiful in a dress of light blue satin. The groom wore the conventional black. After the wedding ceremony the guests were invited to the dining room where they partook of a big wedding dinner prepared by Mrs. Rowan, the groom's mother. A number of beautiful gifts were presented the newly weds. They will move to Liberal to make their home.

Both these young people are quite well known to Liberal folks and the good wishes of all go with them for a long time and happy married life.

The Liberal Daily Democrat Seward County Friday December 17, 1920 Former Libert Chief Of Police Was Killed. Was Guard at Illinois State Penitentiary--He Was Killed By A Convict. On Duty At Time Of Death. Letter to Chas. W. Rogers Brings Information of Tragic Death of Man Who at One Time Was Chief of Police in Liberal. C.W. Rogers, secretary of the Liberal Odd Fellows lodge, is in receipt of a letter from O.T. McMurry of Normal, Illinois, in which it is stated that his brother, James O. McMURRY, had been killed by a convict at the Illinois State Penitentiary while in the discharge of his duties as a guard. No details of the murder are given. McMurray was at one time chief of police of Liberal, and was the only man who ever wore a policeman's uniform while on duty here, and he will be remembered by most Liberal people. Mrs. McMurry and children will go to their old home in Maryland to reside.
