Huey is buried? James was born 15 Aug 1849 in Zanesville, Ohio. He came to Rooks county, Kansas in 1878 and owned Cottonwood Farms that I believe now is under the Webster Reservoir. The cenuses up to 1920 have him in Rush Twp, Rooks county. In 1920 and 1930 he is in Belmont twp, Rooks county. His 3rd wife Lucy died 23 Apr 1930, but her obituary does not state where she was buried but that she did die in Webster where she had resided since marrying James in 1894. With the help of a family Bible, I learned that James moved to Polk county, Florida and died there 30 Aug 1935. His death certificate and obituaries state he sent back to Kansas for burial at Wallace, Kansas. "is preparing the body for shipment Saturday to Stockton, Kan. Interment will be made at Wallace, Kan." from 1935 obit This obituary lists a surviving son "Oscar A. Huey of Wallace, Kan." However, Oscar and his wife Ruth seem to be buried in Wichita county. (In 1930 they were in Western, Logan, Kansas.) James came to Kansas with a 2nd wife Sarah who died in 1885 presumably in Webster also. So is he buried with her? And Lucy too? I'd think that they all would have been buried near Webster which I read that the Webster cemetery was moved to Stockton when the reservoir was created. Seeing that the death certificate and obit of James states he was sent to Wallace has raised questions. Can anyone help? I sure would appreciate it. I'm going to post this on both the Wallace county and Rooks county boards as he could be in either place. Thanks, Laurie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
