I am wondering if there is anyone out there with access to old newspapers from Stockton and Rooks co. that could look something up for me. What I am looking for is a report of a possible trampling by cattle or horses of a young man named George Jones who was 17 in 1875. I have a picture of him taken in Stockton in 1875, when he was married and he had a lot of scars around his eyes, and damage to one of his eyes. There was still heavy bruising along side the right eye, but the scars were all healed over. like it had been at least a few months since whatever happened to him. He didn't appear to have burns so I don't think it was a steam engine explosion, but the scars look consistent with getting kicked or more likely trampled by a horse or cattle.
