Still trying to find what happened to my g-grandmother, Jennie Dodge (Phoebe Jane Potts), who was last known to be in Ansley Village, Ansley Twp., at the time of the 1900 US Census with her husband, David Dodge and children Carl, Wilbur, Martha Ann, Blanche and David. My g-grandfather, David Doctor Dodge was a circuit preacher with the Free Methodist Church and serviced the Custer & Harland Co's plus northern Kansas. Jennie was alleged to have died in 1903 after complications of chilbirth ~ we believe the family was still in Kansas or Nebraska when this happened. Any help is extremely welcome. ~gina thomas patterson~ ~gina thomas patterson~ Please visit my home page at www.burningskyenterprises.com, click on "Family Album". I have pics. of several of the kids and grandkids of William Arthur and Harriet Marie Smith (Lincoln). I have not been able to find out who Harriet's parents were, but do know that her brother Daniel Lincoln 19 b. New York and her sister Sarah Lincoln 12 b. Wisconsin, were with her in the household of William Arthur's parents, while William was in the service. William and Harriet had son Henry Clay age 2 at this census, in Granville, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where William and Harriet were married. The census that Harriet's brother and sister were with she and her inlaws in, is the 1850 census for the before mentioned place. I have a short letter written by Harriet and Wm's daughter Mary Annabelle's cousin DeForrest Bigelow, when she was leaving Wisconsin to go with William (her husband) to move to East Lynn, Cass Co., Missouri to live. Please email me! and we'll exchange info. Glad to meet you Cousin ! Maryetta Little

Does anyone know anything about this Cornelius Clawson that was in Hobart Township in 1900 census? He was listed as a boarder in the home of John Craig. Cornelius is 73 years old, born in Pennsylvania with his father born in New York and his mother born in Pennsylvania. I lost my Cornelius for that census and he fits but the father should have been born in New Jersey, but perhaps it was New York. Any help on Clawsons in Rooks Co would help. I great up in Phillips Co and know the area pretty well and am coming out in May so perhaps if I had a lead I could follow it up at that time. Thanks for any help I can get. Jerilyn
Shelley, I am the Rooks Co. KS USGENWEB Coordinator. If you can scan the picture in I can post it to the Rooks Co. website if you would like. I have rescued many pictures/photo albums off of ebay and scanned them in and donated them to the counties surrounding my home in KY. I find it heartbreaking everytime I do a search on there and find all these lost families. I too have rescued Rooks Co. families, my husband's family homesteaded there in 1878 and are still there. I've "rescued" an old photograph of John & Ella HANCOCK with four of their children, Ivy, Hackeye, Web, and Claude. The photograph was taken at the J. Jennings Studio in Scandia, Kansas likely sometime during the 1880's. A note on the back of the photograph suggests that the photo was taken sometime around 1884. I would guess that the children range in age from about 2 - 5 years at the time with Ivy appearing to be the oldest of the four children. A note also refers to John & Ella as "Ma and Pa". Based on limited research I was able to find information regarding the family beginning with the 1900 census records for Rutland, KS. Records indicate the following: John I. HANCOCK, age 45, born Dec 1854, married 25 years, born IN, parents born IN, a Farmer Ella A. HANCOCK, wife, age 44, born Sept 1855, married 25 years, 8 children/7 living, born IA, parents born VT/? Rhoda P. HANCOCK, dau, age 13, born Nov 1886, born KS Albert V. HANCOCK, son, age 10, born Mar 1890, born IA, a Farm Laborer Oliver A. HANCOCK, son, age 9, born Feb 1893, born IA William H. HANCOCK, son, age 8, born Dec 1896, born IA In the 1900 census of Plainville, KS I was able to find record of Webster HANCOCK, believed to be the child referred to as "Web" in the photograph. He was a servant in the home of William & Cora A. ROBINSON with census info for Webster as follows: Webster HANCOCK, age 17, born Dec 1882, born IA, parents born IN/IA, a Dry Goods Salesman And then in 1920 I find Ivy HANCOCK living in Independence, KS with her father and census records provide the following information: Iva HANCOCK, age 42, born IA, parents born IN/IA, a Physician John HANCOCK, Father, age 69, a widower, born IN, parents born KY/IN I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with the family. If you are a member of the family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
