    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: snowyborn Surnames: HUEY Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.rooks/273.1.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I've been google-ing and have found a contact phone number for the Stockton cemetery so next week I think I'll give them a call and ask about James and also his 2nd wife Sarah who died in 1885 while they lived in Webster. At the time James died, his son Oscar was living in Wallace according to the obit. Maybe that's why he was buried there. But Sarah was Oscar's mother and I'd think he would bury his father next to his mother, however, it would have been easier to make arrangements where he lived, I guess. I did follow Lucy previous to her marriage to James to figure out where all those names of hers came from. I just might email you soon to see if what I found is correct. Author: djwilson6 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.rooks/273.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi there! I don't know about a cemetery reading book for the cemetery in Stockton. There is one for Phillips County, Kansas. I found it in the library in Topeka. I already have a copy of Lucy's obit. Thanks! Yes - Worden Yates Wells was her father. Her mother was Orsavilla "Ava" Blakesley. Both were born in NY. If you want you can e-mail me direct at djwilson6@cox.net and I can give you further info if you want it. That's interesting that James was buried in Wallace. That is in extreme western Kansas close to Sharon Springs. Were there other family buried there also? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. At least I now know where Lucy is. I wonder if James might be there instead of Wallace although the death certificate says he was headed that way for burial. The obit says: "The Ware-Smith Funeral Home of this city is preparing the body for shipment Saturday to Stockton, Kan. Interment will be made at Wallace, Kan." Is there a cemetery reading book for the Stockton Cemetery? Doris, do you have a copy of Lucy's obit? I have it to share if you need it. Was Worden Wells her father? I don't have her mother's name. 1. [KSROOKS] Where is James Huey buried?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: snowyborn Surnames: HUEY Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.rooks/273/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Can anyone help me find out where James F. Huey is buried? James was born 15 Aug 1849 in Zanesville, Ohio. He came to Rooks county, Kansas in 1878 and owned Cottonwood Farms that I believe now is under the Webster Reservoir. The cenuses up to 1920 have him in Rush Twp, Rooks county. In 1920 and 1930 he is in Belmont twp, Rooks county. His 3rd wife Lucy died 23 Apr 1930, but her obituary does not state where she was buried but that she did die in Webster where she had resided since marrying James in 1894. With the help of a family Bible, I learned that James moved to Polk county, Florida and died there 30 Aug 1935. His death certificate and obituaries state he sent back to Kansas for burial at Wallace, Kansas. "is preparing the body for shipment Saturday to Stockton, Kan. Interment will be made at Wallace, Kan." from 1935 obit This obituary lists a surviving son "Oscar A. Huey of Wallace, Kan." However, Oscar and his wife Ruth seem to be buried in Wichita county. (In 1930 they were in Western, Logan, Kansas.) James came to Kansas with a 2nd wife Sarah who died in 1885 presumably in Webster also. So is he buried with her? And Lucy too? I'd think that they all would have been buried near Webster which I read that the Webster cemetery was moved to Stockton when the reservoir was created. Seeing that the death certificate and obit of James states he was sent to Wallace has raised questions. Can anyone help? I sure would appreciate it. I'm going to post this on both the Wallace county and Rooks county boards as he could be in either place. Thanks, Laurie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. According to the probate court notice that posted in the Portage Daily Register in Portage WI, he died intestate on or around 4 November 1888 at Richland, Rooks County, KS. I'm not sure why he was in Richland. The notice stated he was late of Portage, which leads me to believe that he had moved there, but we are not sure why or when. If anyone can help me locate information on Judge John T Clark (wife Louise Clark), I would greatly appreciate it. John T had been a judge in Portage and was owner/editor of the Daily Register at one point. If no one has specific information, can you please point me in the right direction? Thanks for any help.
