CRANE GRIMES who was born in ca 1855 in NY and married Charles Albert Crane, possibly in IL, but could be NY. Their oldest children, May and George were born in IL while some of the others were born in IA and KS (according to census records). On the 1900 census she stated that she had had 10 children, only 8 of which were living. They are (all CRANE): May, George, Betha, Hattie, John,Charlotte "Lotte", Nora and Charles Norman Crane. Charles Albert Crane died (I believe in Rooks Co. possibly around Stockton) in ca 1897. She then remarried to Milo R. GRIMES and they lived in Belmont Twp., Rooks, KS from 1900 - ??? (they were there in 1910 also). Charles Norman Crane married Alpha ?? and their family lived at Colby, Thomas Co., KS in 1930 and he and some of his decendants are buried in the Buelah Cemetery at Colby, KS. I hope to hear from someone who knows of this family (probably decendants of the Crane's) that know Frances' maiden name, place of birth, etc.) I would also like to hear from anyone who knows the burial place of Milo and Francis Grimes - maybe in Rooks Co. Also according to his (my grandpa's) birth cert. his mother was from Overbrook, Osage county, Kansas born in 1902. i am asking because on my grandpa's birth certificate it gives Alfred as the father. i believe this may be because my great grandma was married first to Alfred George Greenwood and i believe did not get the divorce finalized until after my grandpa's birth in Dec. 1930 at Stockton. Both died between 1920-1930, but Simon definitely died after 1922 as he was present in a photograph taken at the last official reunion of the 76th New York State Volunteers "The Cortland Regiment" sometime in 1922. They lived in Stockton & were there at least in 1920 per census, but cannot find any record of their deaths. Sarah's nickname may have been "Miranda" per an old picture, & she also had a maternal aunt in the area, Anna "Mariah" (Getrost) Nedrow, 2nd wife of George M. Nedrow, who respectively died in 1909 & 1906. Mariah apparently came to Stockton after George died in Kirwin, Phillips, KS, & they are buried in Rooks Cemetery in Woodston, Rooks, KS. I cannot find his obit, nor Sarah's or Simon's, nor any mention or record at least of Sarah's or Simon's deaths/burials. Any help much appreciated!
