She moved to Pottawatomie County, Iowa, in 1874, and then moved farther west in 1886, settling in Rooks County, Kansas. On December 6, 1892 she was married to Simon L. Tarbell of Stockton, Kansas and lived in or near the city until the day of her death. At an early age in life, Mrs. Tarbell united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was always outstanding in her religious convictions and faith. She lived a devoted and consistent christian life, and attended regularly the services of the church of her choice till ill health prevented. She was an active member of the Relief Corps of Stockton and was always ready to give her time and energy to the furthering of those interests with which she was identified. Her ill health dates back for many months. She was a patient sufferer during all her illness, and kept asking her Lord for relief from bodily ailment, if it were His will, convinced that anything was not too much for her God. As the disease kept fastening itself upon her, she bowed submissively to what she interpreted as the Divine Will, and concluded she could not fully recover. However, neither she nor her immediate friends had considered her so near the border line. The evening previous to her passing away, she gave instructions concerning the breakfast meal for the following morning, saying as she said so, she might not feel so well at that time, and would tell them beforehand. She left the circle of earthly companionship at the breakfast hour on the morning of July 26, 1920, to join in the breaking of bread in the Kingdom of God beyond. The funeral was to have been held at the Methodist Church at three o'clock Wednesday, but a message from her brother en route informed them that he had missed connections and was making the trip by auto. The funeral was then delayed until Thursday at ten o'clock which would give her brother ample time to arrive before the services. The services are being held this morning from the Methodist church conducted by her pastor Rev. C. A. Fisher and the remains will be laid to rest in the Stockton cemetery. Simon Lorenzo Tarbell was born at East Freetown, Courtland county, New York on August 4, 1843 and died at Stockton, Kansas, on May 30, 1923. His boyhood days were spent where he was born until September 14, 1861, where he enlisted in Co. D 76th regiment New York volunteers. He served through the Civil War, and was captured in the battle of the Wilderness and held prisoner by the south nine months and twenty-one days in the Andersonville prison. He received an honorable discharged on April 21, 1865. He was united in marriage on January 17, 1867, to Ellen J. Martin of Freetown, New York, and to this union was born two children - Mrs. S. J. Ballard of Broadview, Mont., and Frank T. Tarbell of Stockton. In the year 1880 they came to Kansas and located at Cawker City, and a year later took a homestead in Alcona township, Rooks county. Three years later the family moved to Stockton, and on May 11, 1885, he lost his life companion. He was married again, December [6?], 1892, to Mrs. Sarah Chandler of Woodston, who preceded him in death three years ago. Besides the two children, the deceased leaves a brother, W. M. Tarbell of McGraw, N.Y., a half brother Dan Smith of Elmira, N.Y., and two sisters, Mrs. Leah E. Stevens and Mrs. Ida Salisbury, both of McGraw, New York. The funeral services were held from the family home Sunday afternoon, and borne to the final resting place by the Sons of Veterans, escorted by the G. A. R., of which Mr. Tarbell was a member. I've "rescued" a group of three photographs belonging to the GOLD Family of Kansas. The first is one of Frank GOLD'S home in Baker, Kansas. The photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with a group of 7 adults standing in front of the home. The second photograph is one of Frank GOLD, Carl MEYERS, Nell GRIMES, and Maud WILSON standing on a sidewalk together, though there is no photographer or location indicated. This photograph was also likely taken in the early 1900's with Frank appearing to be in his 20's or 30's and the others all teenagers. The third photograph is one of Pearl WEAVER and Anna GOLD, again no photographer or location indicated and likely taken in the 1890's or early 1900's. Pearl and Anna appear to be about 12-16 years old at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding those pictured in the photographs: Nellie Elizabeth GRIMES was b. 25 Jun 1883 in Hiawatha, KS to parents James T. GRIMES and Jane COX. Nellie married Robert Morris STEWART on 24 Dec 1903 or 1904 in Hiawatha, KS and died 23 Nov 1968. Maud WILSON was b. 1 Aug 1880 in Padona, KS to parents George Harrison or Harrison George WILSON and Mary Elizabeth WINSLOW. Pearl WEAVER was b. 21 Sept 1885 in Brown Co. KS to parents Edwin Elmore WEAVER and Anna DELILOK. Anna Jane GOLD was the daughter of Abraham GOLD and Helen LAWRIE. Anna married Joseph Thomas YATES and together they had a son James YATES b. 13 Nov 1919 in Tonganoxie, KS. Jeremiah would have been born about 1890. Etienne's father and mother were Moises Beriade Bechard (1821)and Esther Marie Derome (1827). The next generation would be Louis Beriade (1792 in Acadie) and Marie Girard (1792). The next generation would be Louis Pierre Bechard Beriade (1748 in Quebec City) and his wife Clothilde Marie Remillard (July 6 1761 Quebec City). The next generation would be Louis Jr Bechard Beriade (Sept 22, 1725 Beaumont, Quebec) and his wife Francoise Marie Hemond April 23 1726). I also have additional information on his wife Elizabeth Winner Kilgore Chandler who was my great great grandmother's sister. If you are interested please send me an email at mrm1970@aol.com.
