    1. Plainville Cem.
    2. Jackie, My grgrgrandmother's name was Helen (Doig) Morison, but she was listed in the Rooks Co. Death Book as "Mrs. E. (Ellen?) Morison". I have been trying to verify her birthdate and thought maybe the tombstone would have a date on it. She could also be listed as "Morrison" (the double 'r' ) though our family spelled it with one 'r'. Not sure how the Helen got into Ellen, but maybe because of her Scottish pronunciation? Any info as to how I can speak to someone at the cemetery is very, very, very much appreciated!!! Thanks, Pam Marks San Jose, CA

    3. I hope everyone doesn't mind, but thought I'd send this to the list, so others would also have access. I also included the obit for John's brother, Hugh O'Neil and the information on the burials at Plainville Cemetery. Hope this helps, Jackie http://www.geocities.com/heartland/prairie/7171/ PS: Emma died August 2, 1926 & John died May 14, 1935 Plainville Times, May 16, 1935 John O'Neil Dead John O'Neil, well known old settler of Plainville, died Tuesday at his home here. He had been in poor health and had been in a Hays hospital for some time but returned home. Mr. O'Neil ate breakfast that morning and died in his chair soon after he finished his meal. Funeral services are being conducted in the Christian church this afternoon. Plainville Times, August 5, 1926 Obituary of Mrs. O'Neil Emma Francelia Secor was born in Gouverner, New York, November 14, 1857. She passed from this life at her home in Plainville, Kansas, August 2, 1926. In time her life covered 68 years, 8 months, 19 days; in space from eastern New York to western Kansas, but in influence, and in friendships, and in living her life can not be measured. Nor in these respects has it ceased. She was united in marriage to John O'Neil, August 5, 1884, at Fulton, Illinois. After living for a few years in Illinois and in South Dakota the family settled in Kansas where they have since made their home. Mrs. O'Neil united with the Christian Church in Plainville during the Hazelrigg meetings in 1899. Since that time her loyalty did not waver nor did her zeal grow old. The community mourns her passing, but those who will miss her most are: Her husband, John O'Neil; two daughters, Mrs Mabel Harper and Mrs Grace Wise, both of Plainville; one sister, Mrs. Ida Odett of Chicago; and three grand! sons, Harry and Ralph Harper and Donald Wise. Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, Minister C. W. Roll having charge. Interment at the Plainville Cemetery. Plainville Times, November 7, 1918 Hugh O'Neil Following is the obituary of Hugh O'Neil who died Sunday, October 13th at his home in Homer, Illinois. Mr. O'Neil is a brother of John O'Neil of this city. Hugh O'Neil was born in Providence, Rhode Island, October 12, 1849. Died at his home in Homer, Ill, October 13, 1918. Aged 69 years, 1 day. He had been a sufferer of locomotor ataxia for 6 or 7 years but had borne his suffering with great patience. He came to Illinois from New York when a lad of 12 years and made his home with Mr. George Clark and wife of St. Joseph, Illinois until he was 17 years of age. He then made his home with Dr. Wm. A. Conkey of Homer until he was married in 1871, September 7th to Alice Yeazel at the home of her father, James A Yeazel at the "Yeazel Homestead" west of town. To this union were born 7 children all surviving except Willis Clinton who departed this life August 14, 1889. Mr. O'Neil lived in the country vicinity north and west of town about 19 years when he moved to Homer December 1890 engaging in the butcher business for some 20 years. He has been an active member in lodges as well as town and township political affairs. Being in time mayor of our little city and a member of town and school boards and since ill health called him from active to a more quiet life he had served as assessor and collector 8 years for the township. He was a man in many lines, of talented ability and is known from his kindness and generosity. He was very much devoted to his wife and family and will be greatly missed by them. He was a member of the Methodist Church, also a member of the Masonic and Woodmen orders. He leaves one brother, John O'Neil, of Plainville, Kansas; a wife and six married children, viz: Charles H and Percy of Homer, William H of Danville and Ralph of "Somewhere in France," Mrs J.C. Ewin of Catlin and Mrs. Maria Cook of Homer, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Both are buried in the Plainville Cemetery, Plainville, Rooks Co, KS Emma F (1857-1926) in Section Original Block 3 Lot 69 Grave 4 John Z ( 1851-1935) in Section Original Block 3, Lot 69, Grave 6

I was very excited by your resonse. Frank Knight( Benjamin Franklin Knight) was my grandmothers cousin. His mother, Elizabeth Hanlon Knight was a sister of my Great-grandmother, Margaret Hanlon Dunigan. They, along with another sister Susan Hanlon Dalton( who lived near the Knights in Kansas) emigrated from Ireland to New York between 1850 and 1860. Margaret married in NY. Elizabeth and Susan emigrated to Kansas between 1864 and 1870. My mother and Grandfather visited Frank in about 1932 or 3 and my Mother corresponded with Bernice and Beatrice( I found their addresses in address book along with other cousins from that family named" Lucas" in Seatle and Walla Walla), but contact then was lost. I would be most grateful for any pictures you could provide and any copies of obituary notices. I would like to contact survivors of Frank's children if I can. Also I would be interested to know what cemetary Frank and Carrie Kni! ght are buried in as I would like to visit it if I ever get a chance. My e-mail is sgrande@prodigy .net. Thank You!

I have funeral cards for Bernice and Jack and a newspaper clipping for Kenneth's death, so I believe those dates should be right. I am unsure on Beatrice, her birth date cannot be correct. Buried in the Plainville cemetary next to Carrie and Frank is Harold, who was born & died in 1905.
