Thank you for the response to my posting on my great grandparents, James Richard Roberts, born 10 De. 1837 in Owen County, Ky. His wife was Wealthy Ann Briggs, born 29 Sept. 1844 somewhere in Indiana. I don't know who James parents were but Wealthy Ann's parents were Stephen Briggs and Nancy Clark. We have James' civil war muster papers from the 115th Illinois rgt, but it does not tell about parents or town he was born in. We have an 1860 census in Howard Point Illinois with him on there. We have 1870 census with the Briggs and James Richard ROberts in Avena, Fayette, County Illinois, In 1880 they were in the same place in Illinois. In the 1885 Lincoln, Republic County, Ks census In the 1895 census the same 1900 same 1905 same 1910 James was in Bales Township, Pottawotomie County, Oklahoma with his daughter, Emma Fox and her husband Joseph. James died in Oklahoma on 30 Nov. 1919 and is buried next to Wealthy Ann in Zion Cemetery near Minersville, Ks. Wealthy Ann Roberts died 23 Jan. 1907 in Hollis Ks. There was coal on James and Wealthy Ann's homestead and it was mined. They are mentioned in the book, "The Rock Houses of Minersville" by Agnes Tolbert. Their son, Albert Roy Roberts was my grandfather. He is on the 1895 and 1900 Republic County census. Albert Roy married a lady named Emma Carson in Minersville in 1905. I have no idea what went with Emma. He later married my grandmother, Martha Ruth Barrell in Colo. and they divorced in 1925. I would love to find evidence of who James Richard Roberts parents were (it has been claimed that Armstead Roberts on the 1860 census in Howard point, only a few pages from James, is his dad). I would also like to find what went with Emma Carson (she may have been from SMoky Hill, Geary County, Ks). Albert and Emma had one child that died and another, Josephine Evelyn, who was with him until he divorced my grandmother in 1925. I do not know what went with Josephine either. The divorce was in Montrose, Co. Thank you for looking and especially for anything new you or others turn up, Jim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
