The S. W. you mention is the Stephen W. I am looking for. I received a little more information from Washington County, where he resided. But . . . I have been searching for many years for the parents of my great grandfather Albert Hankins. Everything I find points toward Stephen W.'s son William A. being my Albert but I can find no absolute proof. Stephen and Albert were both living in Haddam at the 1885 census. William A. cannot be found after the 1870 census at Scott, Mahaska, Iowa. William A. was born Feb 1860 in Monroe County, Iowa. Albert was born 20 Feb 1861 in Monroe County, Iowa (record kept by his semi-illiterate wife). My only hope seems to be if Albert is mentioned in Stephen W.'s obituary or some other newspaper reference. I would welcome any suggestions you might have. Again, thanks.
