R. Roberts and wife, Welthy Ann, owned 210 acres out of the center of section 35 Lincoln township. This section looks like a patchwork quilt, as so many men owned pieces of land on it in 1884. The Roberts land was one of the farms with coal banks and shafts on it. Some mines were slope mines. This is the legal description of the farm: The W 1/2 NE 1/4 and the N l/2 SE 1/4 (160 ***** Page 356 acres and 10 acres from the NW Πand 40 acres from the SW 1/4 acres total of 210 acres. The Roberts children were: Freddie and Nora.
