I've "rescued" an old autograph album which originally belonged to Laura A. OXLEY of Clarinda, Iowa. The book is dated 1883 and includes entries from both family and friends. Many appear to be from students of Laura's referring to her as "Teacher". Entries in the album include: Autograph Album belonging to: Miss Laura A. Based on limited research and with the assistance of an HAZEN Family researcher I believe that the book likely belonged to Laura Asenath OXLEY b. 6 June 1863 to parents Ethan Irvin OXLEY and Asenath Elnora ALLEN. Laura married Delose Spartacus HAZEN on the 22nd of July 1888 in Irving, Kansas, and Laura died 2 Aug 1949 in Republic Co., Kansas. The OXLEY Family was living in Polk, IA during the 1880 census including, Ethan I. age 43, born in OH, a Farmer whose parents were born in VA and OH respectively, his wife A. E. age 41, born in IL, noting that her Mother was born in CT. The family included 9 children at that time including, L. G. (male) age 19, Laura age 17, Ethan I. age 13, Frankie age 12, Dora age 11, Mirty age 7, Tokay (female) age 5, Lawrence age 3, and Harvey age 1, all born in IA. Laura's husband Delos was b. 23 Nov 1853 in Jefferson, OH. Laura and Delos HAZEN had 4 children, Clifford Spartacus b. 26 Oct 1890, Irvin Bradford b. 3 Nov 1892, Mabel Clair b. 8 Jan 1894, and Sanford Ethan b. 7 Nov 1896. All four children born at Wayne, Kansas. Daughter Mabel married Fred Daniel SISSELL on 20 Aug 1912, though I don't believe they had any children. I'm hoping to be able to return this treasure to the family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
