Died at her home two miles south of Republic, Kansas, April 18, 1924, at the age of 82 years, 7 months 23 days. She was married to Mr. Solomon Emmert at Laporte City, Iowa on April 2, 1872, and to this union four children were born: Sadie, the only daughter who died in infancy, and Edwin Grant, William Arthur, and Benjamin Miller all of this place. There are four grand children. Mrs. Emmert grew to womanhood in Westmoreland county, Penn. Shortly after her marriage she moved to Laporte City, Iowa, where she resided until 1889, when the family moved to Kansas and have lived near Republic all these years. She was a member of the Evangelical church since her childhood days. She is survived by two sisters, Belle Mickey of Pittsburg, Penn. and Margaret Burns of Ligonier, Penn.; four brothers, Hiram McDowell of Ligonier, Penn., Godfrey McDowell of Scandia, Kansas, Will McDowell of Lewistown, Montana and Edwin McDowell of NewDerry, Penn., and many dear friends.
