I would love some suggestions on how to go about getting a copy of the coroner report for his death. His death in my family has always brought about some questions. What I do know: William Sherman Short died on July 30, 1904 in Narka, Kansas. They think he was killed by a train that went thru there about midnight. The body was brought to F.A. Guy's Furniture store and the Cornoner Ekbald of Scandia. There was an inquest at 1pm that day for them to decide on what really happened and came to the conclusion that he was killed by an east bound train. Funeral service was held at M.E. Church and he is buried somewhere in Maple Grove Cemetery. Any help or if someone could look for me and make a copy for me... would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Both were from Agenda, Kansas. There are newspaper listings. I would guess these are wedding announcements. They are Belleville Democrat (Roll 2, possibly August 4,1893), Belleville Telescope (Roll 5, August 4, 1893), and Republic County Freeman (Roll 1, August 3, 1893). If your local library does not order microfilm in, the Belleville Public Library can look them up and print them for you for a nominal fee. Their e-mail address is bplstaff@nckcn.com. I found nothing in the marriage records for any other marriages in Republic County. There are Cox buried in Belleville and Republic County but none of the names you mentioned. I do not see any listing in our cemetery records for Catherine Polite Farris though. These records cover all of the cemeteries in Republic County and Belleville Cemetery. These records were recorded by a volunteer so that is not saying she may be buried there and was not listed on the paperwork used in researching. This happens occasionally. Good luck! It's address is 201 100 Road. One hundred Road is west on Highway 36 approximately 6 miles then south on 100 Road 11 miles. That is taking a lot of back roads so I would suggest taking Highway 148 (south of Belleville 9 miles) Then head west 5 1/2 miles then south 2 miles. If you make it all the way to Norway you have gone to far. I know this sounds confusing but in reality it isn't that hard to get to. If you have any information on either of them we would love to have it. All we have are birth and death years. No dates, spouses, parents, children or siblings. I hope this helps.
