Author: donnal123 Surnames: Clark Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.republic/297/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am seeking any information on Earl Clark that was living in Courtland, KS (Republic) in April 1950 when his sister died. In 1950 Earl Clark would have been about 60. His wife's name was Gladys and they had at least 4 children. I am not sure if they remained in Courtland or not. I am seeking a death date and burial location so I can locate an obituary. I don't have much else to go on. He is not mentioned as a surviving sibling in another sister's obit in May 1973. I would appreciate any help. Thank you. Donna Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Henry and Jaca Woodhouse came to Indiana from Princess Ann County, VA abt 1810. Between 1840-1850 they died and the rest of the family migrated up the Mississippi. Henry fought in the War of 1812. Their children that I know of are Joshua, b. 1820, m. Sarah; Mary Ellen, m. Jos Timmons; Emery; and William. Joshua, Mary Ellen and Emery settled in Grant Co. , Wis. William in Dubuque Co., Iowa. Joshua and Sarah's children, so far as I know were Henry, b. 1841; Elizabeth Mary, b. 1843, m. Augustus Micka in Grant Co. (my husband comes from this branch); Jane , b. 1844, m. James Dorman in Grant Co.; and Cynthia, b. 1848, m. Charles Elliot; and Nancy Ann, m. Eli Williams. I only have info on children of Elizabeth Mary and Gus Micka. Henry Woodhouse, Sr. had a brotherm Francis who was killed by Indians. I hope I got this all straight. It has been some time since I worked on this family and am pulling bits and pieces from my material.I hope this helps you. 1. [KSREPUBL] Official State Atlas of Nebraska (atlas on CD review)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: r_a_green Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.republic/295/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties, an abridged atlas of county and city maps from 'The Official State Atlas of Kansas, Everts & Kirk, 1887'. The Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties (Zone 1-12) Atlas is a complete set of 1887 Kansas county maps. Each of the 12 Zones consists of a series of 8-10 bordering county maps making up all 106 Kansas counties. Each Zone Atlas contains high resolution scanned images of vintage 19th century county and city maps that are presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Individual Zone CD's are available as well. In addition to all 106 Kansas county maps, there are nearly 800 city and village maps on this CD. City maps and plans are often more detailed and include the names of many original property owners, businesses, municipal buildings, etc. Please note: some small city and village map plans include street and lot detail only. Maps include the following 19th century features: * roads, railroads and canals * cities, towns and villages * post offices and government sites * one-room schoolhouses, churches and cemeteries * rivers, streams and ferries * racetracks, fairgrounds and picnic groves * industrial sites, furnaces and mills * early homesteads and farms - and much more The Historic Atlas of Kansas Counties may be an invaluable aid to Genealogists, Historians and researchers in search of 19th century Kansas places and place names. These early maps often contain many places that no longer exist or that have been obscured over time; the location of property owners, businesses, churches and cemeteries may assist genealogical researchers interested in Kansas history. The Adobe Acrobat Reader for MS Windows is needed to view, zoom, pan and print from the PDF map images contained in this atlas, and is included free on each CD. No other software is necessary. Read a complete review of this and other 19th century materials: http://home.comcast.net/~r_a_green/review.html Good luck in your research! We have many unidentified pictures in our collection that we encourage volunteers to go through and see if they can identify them. We also put some in our newsletter to get to a greater audience and plan to down the road have a "Do You Know Who I Am" type page on the web site to enlarge our audience even more. Our address is: Republic County Historical Society P.O. Box 218 Belleville, Kansas 66935 ATTEN: Sherrie We really appreciate that you are willing to pass them on. Many would just throw them out and then they are lost to us forever. Of course our job is to preserve the history of our county and the people who have made it into the great area it is. Thank you! I found Jos Jennings in the 1885 KS state cenusus for Scandia, but not in the 1880 Federal Census, so I am assuming he came to Scandia sometime between 1880 and 1885, which does help to date these photos. None of the photos I have are from my family. I believe they are family or friends of Josie Early Daniel Ebert, wife of John S. Ebert of Salt Lake City. If you have any interst in them, I will post them. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. He lived in Scandia and had a studio there. My grandfather was born in 1890 so he was there at that time and was also still taking picture there until after my mother was a few years old. She was born in 1918. After that he went to California to visit his daughter and died there. His second wife continued to live in Scandia and died there in 1948. We have some pictures he took which were primarily family pictures. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: repcomuse Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.kansas.counties.republic/293.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, most of the coroner reports were kept by the coroner himself and when that doctor retired or died they were usually thrown out. They were not something that was required by law to be filed anywhere in particular. We could look the death up in the local papers from that time but there is a possibility the paper would just say he was hit by a train. If you want a look up let us know. It could take sometime since the microfilm is at the library and it depends on how the day goes if anyone can get away to go there. The school was District 40 - Manning School. The cemetery is Agenda/Manning cemetery. What year would your family have owned the land? If you know the infants name we can look in the cemetery records and see if they are listed. Please send us your e-mail address. We will see if we can figure out who lives there now. Of course we would have to get with them first. If they have no problems talking with you we can give them your e-mail or snail mail address.
