    2. Could I get a lookup for Vilhelm (William) Danielsson and Caroline Matilda Danielsson who settled in beaver township. Children were Carl, Emma, Gustaf A. and Ester. They are buried in Ada. Also for John Magnus Engwall and Sara Stina (Johansdotter) Engwall. Chrildren were two daughters, Fredrick and Albert. Believed to have lived near Kackley or possibly Scandia. Also buried in Ada. They emigrated around 1869 from Sweden. Anyone who is related, I am interested in talking with. Doing some research in Sweden currently but need decendant information over here. Kent Gustavson

    2. Hi Jim, Over 40 years, people have done lookups for me, now its my turn and glad to do it. I grabbed the surnames, so some fit into your family. Beth Page 365 First school board in Fairview district 93 was Mrs. Mary Dutton Amott. Mr. Brynjulf Stensaas- and Ole Tiller. Teachers were Ella Rockhold - 1885; Mr. Osmond - 1881; Anna Rimol - 1905; Mr. Smart, Owen Brewer, Vera Houghton Anderson, Miss Williams and Mrs. Rockhold. ---------------------- Page 366 Both teachers and funds were scarce in the 70's. The terms ran from twelve to twenty weeks and the twelve week term at twenty-five dollars a month was decided upon. By 1900 many schools had from six to eight month terms at twenty-five to thirty dollars a month. In 1889 in dist. 23, J. F. Dickerhoof was director and Osul Thompson, clerk; Tena Dickerhoof was teacher. Before 1890 some of the teachers in dist. 23 were; Dr. Way, Harry Heaton, Tena Dickerhoof, Charles Houghton, and Vera Crossen. In 1893 David Dickerhoof, Anna Throbeck Nelson, and Selma Anderson Frankforter ad in 1895 May Dickerhoof Carney, Nellie Tesslin, Karen Hammer Ross and Theresa Nelson Mancill were the eight grade graduates. -------------- Page 366 In 1908 Norway became one of the few consolidated districts in Republic County. District 95 There is only one descendant of a homesteader living in district 32 on original land. He is Lester Houghton, a grandson of James Nelson. His sister, Ruth Anderson, also lives in the district but on different land. ------------------- Page 369 Section 25, N.E. 0. P. Houghton, 1880 Norway District. --------------------- In Dist. 82, Herman Carlson and Carl Johnson were the first ***** Page 403 graduates in 1894-1895. The teacher was A. S. Segerhammer, who conducted a nine month school for $40.00 a month. Gust Thuden, F. G. Henrikson and W. F. Hamilton were the board members. When Pleasant View was organized, Sept. 5, 1872, Jacob Spiney, Joab Houghton and G. W. Morrison were the school board. This school was the second to standardize. ------------------ Page 403 Kackley district 121 was the last organized. The first graduate was Iva Nelson, term 1895-1896. Teacher was H. B. Dicker- hoof. The board included Clarence Tebow, Niles Johnson and Joab Houghton. This school was of frame construction, located in the north part of Kackley. Early it was used as a one-room school, but later, in 1917-18 it was converted to two rooms to accommodate grades as well as first year high school. One teacher taught the first six grades.: Miss Iva Houghton, now Mrs. John Benson; and the 7th 8th, aid 9th grades were taught by Miss Ruth Houghton, now Mrs. Hans Anderson. The following year, the high school used the Baptist church, now a home owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Monson. During the war and when flu was so prevalent, the high school was discontinued for the interim. --------------------------- Page 411 Other early residents of Beaver Township were: A. L.
