Her name is Bertha Frings. Her father was Godrey Frings. She married one of Smith relatives. OK, I got Bertha's death certificate back this morning and it says: MOTHER UNKNOWN. So what I am figuring is that Bertha's mother died in childbirth in Sylvia, KS which makes more sense than as soon as she had the child, she packed her bags and sneaked out of town under the cover of darkness. Which brings me to my next question. Since it seems more probable that she died there, I am wondering which of the funeral homes in Reno Co. KS would have been in business at that time OR acquired records from that time. And if the records would have been in their files or turned over to a historical society. And I am wondering if Bertha might be buried in Sylvia and whether or not there is an online listing of cemeteries and who is interred there. I sure would appreciate some assistance in finding out what happened to her.
