My father spent a night in the pokey for some sort of business transactions with this fellow. It made my grandpa extremely unhappy because in addition to having a son in jail who was an embarrassment, grandpa just happened to be the janitor at the jail. My father says everytime his dad walked by he would stop, stick the handle of his broom through the bars and try to poke some sense into him - cussing him up loud and clear. There is no record at the jail so I am pleased my father lived a relatively short life of crime and was quickly released to the vengeance of his father - much more to be feared than the court, I am sure. I would love to hear any stories about "Short" or to know who he really was. "Short" is the only thing I know about but maybe he was famous - or infamous! Can someone put me in touch with some memories?
