Freeman Glass. They lived at Hutchinson, Kansas. Their children were Charles Orlando, Lulu Anna, Edwin Welcome, Hazel Urdine, Jay Winfield, Mabelle Wanieta, and Helen Esther. All except Orlie is buried in Reno County, KS. Menota's father, Charles Orlando ("Orlie") Glass was the only one of his siblings to move away from this area and go to Florida. Menota's brother Wesley Christopher Glass returned to Kansas, ran a flower shop or greenhouse, and lived at Greensburg, KS with his family. Orlie was first married to a young woman named Ora, who died in Hutchinson of pneumonia about the age of 18. She is buried near John and Emma Glass in Hutchinson. Orlie married Gertrude Ella Minner second, and had a third wife after Gert divorced him around 1928 or 1929. Lulu was married to Chester Elison VanDolah Coleman until her death in 1927. After Gert divorced Orlie, she married Chester Coleman on 30 July 1930 and they remained together the rest of their lives. Gert and Chester Coleman, and Lulu Glass Coleman, are buried at Hutchinson. Menota married Robert DeShazo and was living somewhere in the south, according to what the family in Reno County has said. I have found nothing on her to speak of. The children of Orlie and Gert Glass were Chester Orlando (b. 27 Apr 1881 at Hutchinson, d. 1959 in Florida), an unnamed stillborn infant (b. & d. 23 Jun 1907 Hutchinson), Ernest Lorenzo (b. Hutchinson 8 Sep 1892), Menota Gertrude (born in Safety Harbor, Florida), Wesley Christopher (born in Safety Harbor, Florida, died at Greensburg, Kansas), and Margie (reportedly born in Akron Ohio). We have little information about Ernest and his bunch, and don't seem to be able to find any information at all about Margie, except that she was married to Larry Skinner. If Menota Gertrude Glass came to Hutchinson, it was probably just to visit. In 1929, she would have been about 15 years old. There is nothing in the family records that indicates that she remained here with any of the relatives for any length of time. My husband, another descendant of John Wesley Glass through a brother of Orlie, says there is a large photograph of a woman with the name "Menota" written on it, in with some of his grandfather's papers stored out in the barn.
