In the previous posting, the son born in Dec 1890 to Fred and Sarah Green (he dropped the e) is my great grandfather Roy Lester Green. Also, for anyone who is a descendent of DeWitt and Caroline Greene there is a book written in the early 60's that details the ancestry of the Wilcox family back 8 more generations. I don't have the specifics, but the GEDCOM is available if you search Ancestry.com.

Do you know anything about her family? The Lundy from Ill to MO to KS caught my eye. I have Lundy's from ILL to MO in my dad's line. I have some info on it. My Gt. Gma was Nancy Elizabeth Lundy b. 1867. I can't help but wonder if they might tie in to the same family lines! I'd be interested in sharing info with you on them. Thanks and have a great one! I tried to send this to your emails, but it came back everytime!!! I'll put mine on here again: willi@nevillenet.com
Hi, I am new to this list. I am searching for the record of Cornelius LONG and his family. I was told that, at some point, the family lived in Reno Co. He married Florence H. WAITE, but was a widower by 1920, when he and four (apparently) unmarried daughters, Flora A., Edith P., Susanna and Bessie were listed in the census for Auburn Twp., Shawnee Co., KS. Other children included a son, Harry, and daughter Flossie B., who married Carl C. PRESCOTT. I should appreciate getting any little bit of information that anyone might have regarding any member of this family. Thank you. Naomi Long Hopperstad (naomihopperstad@aol.com)

Yes, there is a Yoder Amish Cemetery and a Yoder Mennonite Cemetery, both at Yoder, KS. There is also a Laurel Cemetery, Elmer-Fairview Cemetery also at Yoder, KS. Hope this helps. All except Orlie is buried in Reno County, KS. Menota's father, Charles Orlando ("Orlie") Glass was the only one of his siblings to move away from this area and go to Florida. Menota's brother Wesley Christopher Glass returned to Kansas, ran a flower shop or greenhouse, and lived at Greensburg, KS with his family. Orlie was first married to a young woman named Ora, who died in Hutchinson of pneumonia about the age of 18. She is buried near John and Emma Glass in Hutchinson. Orlie married Gertrude Ella Minner second, and had a third wife after Gert divorced him around 1928 or 1929. Lulu was married to Chester Elison VanDolah Coleman until her death in 1927. After Gert divorced Orlie, she married Chester Coleman on 30 July 1930 and they remained together the rest of their lives. Gert and Chester Coleman, and Lulu Glass Coleman, are buried at Hutchinson. Menota married Robert DeShazo and was living somewhere in the south, according to what the family in Reno County has said. I have found nothing on her to speak of. The children of Orlie and Gert Glass were Chester Orlando (b. 27 Apr 1881 at Hutchinson, d. 1959 in Florida), an unnamed stillborn infant (b. & d. 23 Jun 1907 Hutchinson), Ernest Lorenzo (b. Hutchinson 8 Sep 1892), Menota Gertrude (born in Safety Harbor, Florida), Wesley Christopher (born in Safety Harbor, Florida, died at Greensburg, Kansas), and Margie (reportedly born in Akron Ohio). We have little information about Ernest and his bunch, and don't seem to be able to find any information at all about Margie, except that she was married to Larry Skinner. If Menota Gertrude Glass came to Hutchinson, it was probably just to visit. In 1929, she would have been about 15 years old. There is nothing in the family records that indicates that she remained here with any of the relatives for any length of time. My husband, another descendant of John Wesley Glass through a brother of Orlie, says there is a large photograph of a woman with the name "Menota" written on it, in with some of his grandfather's papers stored out in the barn.

Glass and Marjorie Graves Glass (2 children, James R. and Margene). Great grandparents: John Wesley Glass and Emma A Freeman - 7 children, Charles Orlando, Lulu Anna, Welcome Edwin, Hazel Urdine, Jay Winfield, Mabelle Wanieta, and Helen Ester. Charles Orlando Glass was married 1st to Ora ?somebody? (she is buried in the Glass section at Eastside Cemetery here), 2nd to Gertrude Ella Minner (she is buried in the Coleman section of Eastside Cemetery), and 3rd to ?unknown?. Lulu Anna Glass was married to Chester Coleman until her death in 1927, and is also buried in the Coleman section at Eastside. Before my husband's grandfather's brother Charles Orlando Glass (who was called "Orlie"), was married to Aunt Gertie Coleman, as you call her, Orlie was married to a little gal by the name of Ora something who died at the age of 18 of pneumonia not long after they were married. I don't have the particulars of that, haven't attempted to find the obit yet. The cemetery has limited information about her. Gert was the second wife, and then Orlie married a 3rd time after Gert divorced him. My husband's grandparents used to travel to Florida at least once a year to see Orlie and his 3rd wife, and apparently had a good relationship. This was after Orlie's death. Then, during the late 80s or early 90s, at the end of a long-term relationship, my husband was doing a bit of traveling after his second female partner (translated "live-in tramp") had filed for support and had seized a large part of his property in the palimony settlement. His travels took him to Florida where he attempted to get to know Orlie's family, that he had heard so much about, to see what kind of people they were. He didn't have much to say about them that was very complimentary. I don't know if he ever met Menota, but he says he has a rather large photograph of a woman with the name Menota written on it. According to the accounts I've heard, Orlie was seriously alcoholic and may have been abusive. I haven't got any confirmation of this. I've heard that Ernest, one of the sons, also had an alcohol problem. Gertrude and Orlie's oldest boy was named Chester Orlando Glass, and was apparently closer to his mother than some of the others were. Chester's wife Lulu Anna Glass died on the 17th of May 1927. Gert filed for divorce shortly after that, and she married Chester Coleman on the 30th of July 1930.
