    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Bussing Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vm.2ADE/992.1 Message Board Post: Les, Here are some things to try to find info on the Bussings. Go to the Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS) site online. (http://www.kshs.org/). You can get a microfilm copy of the 1885 Kansas State Census:(http://www.kshs.org/library/cens6ks.htm) through Interlibrary Loan. You get the reel number and info from the KSHS site and contact your library to get the reel sent to your hometown library. You can then look at the reel in the comfort of your hometown library. KSHS doesn't charge for this service. The service is totally free. You might have to wait a few days for the film to arrive. Hutchinson is in Reno County, but you'll need to know the township that they lived in, since they lived outside of Hutchinson, so that you get the right microfilm. If you don't know the township, you'll have to search the townships surrounding Hutchinson. If you want some info on your other names, try the online index search for the Kansas State 1895 Census at the KSHS site: (http://www.kshs.org/library/cens8ks.htm). I put in all three surnames for Bussing, Totman, & Bradford. There were a lot of results for Totman & Bradford, but none for Bussing. Hope this helps. Carl Sprouse

Surnames: Sherow, Brenton Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vm.2ADE/988.1.1 Message Board Post: Thank you once again Thomas. Yes, we just found this information, as well. The family migrated from Marshall Co, IN to KS sometime after 1881 and before 1892 when the marriage of his son Joseph took place in Fostoria, KS. Don't know if they stayed in Fostoria, or if the marriage was during their travels. Joseph and wife Rose are buried in Reno Co, KS, near Langdon. Noah Sherow died in 1903 and is buried in Nickerson, but there is no record of his widow, Ellen being buried there. It was a second marriage and we don't know if there were any children from that marriage, as she was close to 40 years old when they married. I appreciate your taking the time to check this out. Surnames: Sherow Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vm.2ADE/989.2.1 Message Board Post: Thank you Thomas. In WI they kept township designations when people lived in cities / villages within the townships and had separate pages for the census within the township for those places. I am not familiar with how KS did that, or KS geography. One more question: I found a Fostoria, KS listed in Osage Co, KS in addition to the Fostoria in Pottawatomie Co through a site that another user posted. Is this correct? They look pretty close to each other. Checked Pottawatomie Co site and saw no references to Fostoria. Could this be the same place, as well - or are they really 2 different locations? Melanie Rice
