My husband was interested in the information about Milburn Stone as he says everyone in Burrton always knew or had heard about him and liked to be able to talk of the famous fellow from their town. If we find in the future that your Stones are related to his Stones, I'll certainly let you know! Thanks so much for posting! Good luck in your research.

Surnames: Stone, Hargis, Fortner, Allstot, Liggett Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vm.2ADE/962.4 Message Board Post: Diana, I have in my line a many times great uncle, Hargus McNeil Stone b. abt 1816 m. to Abigail VanNess. They are in the FamilySearch 1880 census in Valley, Reno Co., KS. One of their children was Joseph Stryker Stone from which line came Milburn Stone, "Doc" of Gunsmoke. Joseph is also in the 1880 census m. to Ann M. with 5 children. My line comes from a brother of Hargus of which there was two: Andrew and Lewis, who farmed in Marion Co., IA. Andrew went to Burrton, Harvey Co., KS to spend remainder of his days among some family. Problem is all three brothers named some of their children with same names and it's sort of frustating to sort out who belongs to whom! Andrew had a son named Hargus McNeil as well as his brother Lewis, born about a year apart. If you believe you have a connection, I've got more info none of which has been verified and needs to be.

They farmed there until the death of Charlotte 10 Oct 1891, age 68. After that Joseph and family moved into Wichita. I can find where Joseph is buried in Hutchinson but Charlotte was said by her family to not want to be buried in Kansas, but back home in Ohio with her family. Some of her sons worked for the railroad, so would have had a way to ship her back. I would like to find some confirmation of her death date and burial. Will share RAMBO information
