Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vm.2ADE/918.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Great to hear from you. I did some research on the cemetery at Stoeger's farm and found that it was a civil war prison camp. The North would ship the prisoners up from the south and march them out to the farm. When a prisoner died, they buried him where he fell. They marked the grave with a small white stone with the persons initials on it. I saw some of them aroud the cemetery and at the time didn't know what they were. Cool Huh!

Surnames: HENRY RANKIN Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vm.2ADE/918.1.1 Message Board Post: It's great to actually hear from a person who lived in Loda. My father (Allan L. Henry) and I visited there a few times around 1980. We logged all the stones in the old Henry Cemetery on the Stoerger farm. We even dug in the nearby creek (in the muck and mire) and found a stone for Rosie Rankin (gr-dau of Alexander Henry) and what we believed to be fragments of John Henry Sr.'s stone. I wish I could go back. I don't know much more about Loda than what has been posted on websites. I did find Clarke Henry in Loda, KS in the censuses, but don't know much more than what the censuses tell me. When you get the info from Pretty Prairie, could you let me know? Also, let me know if there' s anything you'd like to know about the Henrys and Smiths. Mike Fife Lake, MI
