My ancestor is the Daniel McKenzie who is buried there. I have been told that some of the Mckenzie's I wrote are at another cemetery in Hutchinson thought the caretaker there sent me the list with the names on it, so I assumed they were all there. I have been told by some of our relatives that the McKenzie's that stayed in Hutchinson are related to us and that is what I am trying to find out. Who were they, who did they come from, and actually anything at all that is in Reno County, on them. I started with the cemetery because that is all I have. I have been unable to find anything out on these names at ancestry.com or even the USGen web on the Kansas area. If you would be willing to help in any way i would be more than happy and thank you! Maybe they didn't have any. I was hoping to turn some up eventually and share info. I am posting this in reply to my own my message on the board, so that other interested parties can have the info too. "Mrs. Ada North, 88, 1101 North Main, died Saturday [2 Sept 1972] at Evergreen Manor, Hutchinson, after a long illness. Born April 12, 1884, at Hagertown, Md., she was married to George W. North Jan. 25, 1915, at Hutchinson. He died Sept. 11, 1966. She was a lifetime resident here. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson; Rev. Leslie Truitt. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.Sunday and Monday at the mortuary. [This obit was taken from the September 3, 1972 Hutchinson News]." Ada's mother was Martha Johnson who died 14 Oct 1932, possibly in Hutchinson. George and Ada North lived with Martha Johnson in 1920, in Hutchinson according to the 1920 Federal census. We don't know who Ada's father was. I may have a picture of Ada & George, but no one can identify it. I have George North's death certificate, and am descended from his brother Frank North of Ohio/Iowa/Oklahoma. We have three more NORTH generations of info before Frank.

Hutchinson and what became of him and/or his family. I am writing to let you know that I checked the cemetery listings for the county and found that there is no listing for a burial of anyone named C.C. Hutchinson. There were two listings for burials for men named Edwin Hutchinson - one for Edwin, no middle initial, born 7 January 1818, died 22 Oct 1888, burial in Eastside Cemetery; and one for Edwin W. indicating a burial around 12 March 1896 but which indicated that the remains were disinterred and removed from the cemetery. To obtain additional information about either of those burials, you can write to the caretaker at Eastside Cemetery, Avenue D and Cleveland, Hutchinson, KS 67501. If he has any additional information in his files, he will send it to you - but keep in mind that some of his files are incomplete (fire, poor record-keeping in some periods). Sometimes there will be a copy of the obituary and other information to indicate family members or cause of death. If not, there ought to be an obituary on microfilm. If no one else responds in the next few weeks, contact me and I'll go into town and see about looking it up for you.

The town within Bell Twp was Lerado, now little more than a spot on the road. The next nearest towns would be Turon to the west and Langdon to the north. Arlington is northeast and would be the location of the office for the consolidated school district that encompasses that area now. If nobody answers you with the specific information you need, you can write to the Reno County Courthouse to ask where the records might be - 1st and Adams, Hutchinson, KS 67501 - or contact the Fairfield United School District High School at 900 West Main, Arlington, KS 67514 to see if they can help you.

Do you know what church she associated with? Fairlawn clerical staff should be able to assist you somewhat in determining whether there are any notations of a spouse burial nearby, or at another cemetery. They should also be able to tell you where the transfer came from, if there was any memo on it.
