This is a wonderful resource for people researching long distance. Do you have a William E. Scott in your family tree - that married a Norma Jean Sterling? They married in 1954. Her dates are 1929 - 2001. I don't have much on this family. Norma's mother is the sister of my husband's grandmother. Good luck with your search! Gale Wall

Umphfres who married Sarah Lucinda "Lou" Summers, July 3, 1887 in Carroll County, Arkansas. Sarah L. Summers was the daughter of Thomas Middleton & Sarah Summers. She and James had the following children: Hiram H., Altie B., Ross G., Roy Ole, Nellie Telitha, A.B., Sara A., Alvin Lee and Kenneth. To the best of my knowledge none of this family ever lived in Kansas--those who survived to adulthood were in Washington, Oregon and California. Sarah L. Summers Umphries was the Aunt of Bissell Summers listed in my previous posting on the Reno, KS message board.

Also, you might want to contact Eastside cemetery for additional records. They might have information on his parents with an internment record You never know when other relatives may be nearby or in the same family plot. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ksrcgs/cemetery.html Also, there are no birth certificates for that time frame in either the county or state level. Recorded births for Reno County did begin until 1890. You would be better off sending to Topeka for his death certificate.

Surnames: Snyder and Hoskinson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Vm.2ADE/1245 Message Board Post: My Great Grandfather was Edward Daniel Snyder born on August 30, 1882 in Hutchinson, Kansas and died in July 1968 in Hutchinson. He married Beulah Alice Hoskinson on November 15, 1905 in Burrton, Ks. She was born on July 4, 1888 in Burrton, and died September 18, 1976 in Hutchinson. They are both burried in Eastside Cemetery in Hutchinson. Somehow I have misplaced their obituaries and I need Edward's day of death so that I can order a birth certificate and gain access to information on his parents. His parents were Jacob who was born in 1852 and died in 1927, and Anna who was born in 1852 and died in 1936. They are also buried in Eastside Cemetery. All 4 headstones have the year of birth and death only. None of my relatives can remember the exact day of Edward's death. Even though I now live in Wichita, I am homebound due to multiple sclerosis and my husband works long hours. I would truly appreciate any suggestions as to how to obtain this info! Thank you very much and God Bless!
Hello List, I have just signed on and am looking for help with not many clues. "May HENDRY", "May Green, 21 yrs old of Nickerson, Reno Co, KS" is listed as an heir in the probate papers (dated May, 1890) of Appanoose Co, IA for Henry C. ROOT. (He died out of state in Hoboken, NJ, but his home was Appanoose Co, IA.) I have been searching censuses backwards and forwards for her and family. The best I come up with is she may be the daughter of Edward Hendrey and Rosy unknown. Her mother should have been born in OH. She may have married Burk GREEN 1879 in Nickerson, Reno Co, KS. (above info from Familysearch.org) Other than this, I only have a couple of census guesses that sort of fit. Any other help will be much appreciated! Thanks to all, Marcia Snyder
