When Mary had finally had enough of his "sinning", 3 of her brothers paid Frank a visit and offered him money to leave town and threatened him not to come back. He left and was not seen for many years. Descendants of Mary's say that Frank contacted her later and asked her to come to Emporia to see him. She arrived at an apartment house or hotel that was located near the old depot with one of her younger sons with her. By this time, Frank was very ill with some unknown affliction and was in his bed. At the end of their visit, Frank pulled out a gun and killed himself. Mary and her son left the room and proceeded to their buggy. Outside the building, she saw an engineer from the depot and told him that her husband had just shot himself. She and her son then got into their buggy and proceeded to leave town. The Sheriff started looking for her, thinking that she had something to do with his death. Eventually, she was! cleared of any accusations. -1851-1861 Crickhowell Reg.
